After the notion of a "unity government" was dangled before the public Israel's President Reuven Rivlin will give Benjamin Netanyahu the opportunity to form a new government. Netanyahu with the support of 55 members, short of a 61 seat majority.
His Likud party awarded one more seat in the final count of votes now at 32 seats, but still short of Benny Gantz's Blue and White which has 33 seats.
Mr. Gantz saying Tuesday that his party will not be part of a government led by someone facing serious charges. That's a reference to Mr. Netanyahu facing indictment in three separate corruption cases.
The defamation case brought against legal scholar Alan Dershowitz by Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Guiffre in federal court for a hearing Tuesday.
Guiffre attacked by Dershowitz on Twitter and through other venues after she said that Epstein repeatedly ordered her to have sex with Dershowitz.
Guiffre has alleged that at the age of 17 she has sex with Dershowitz in a 2008 civil court case.
Dershowitz saying he was exercising his First Amendment right and seeking to have the lawsuit dismissed.
Dershowitz also seeking to have high profile attorney David Boies and his law firm removed as counsel for Guiffre.

The United States says it launched an airstrike against Islamic State in Libya Tuesday. 11 reported killed in the attack.
