FRANCE YELLOW VESTS WEEK 44:
Its Week 44 of the Yellow Vests protests in France and this week finds the movement coming off a "revitalized week" after the summer slowdown in France. Some 16,307 protesters counted at 157 locations last week by the "Yellow Number" Facebook page.
The background of today's protests include a transit workers strike on Friday, the incident Thursday where a local police chief in the Sevran area suspended an officer for attacking a man only to be overruled by Paris and the discovery of molotov cocktails in the center of Nantes.
Nantes expected to be a center of protest today.
The actions of the police and the death of Steve Maia Canico that followed at a music festival in that city drawing the attention of protesters.

The official estimate from Nantes is of some 1900 protesters today with 35 arrests reported as of Saturday evening. 18 of those arrested taken into preventive custody before the demonstration began. The protest in Nantes an undeclared and "illegal" one with much of it focused on the death of Steve Maia Canico that followed a police assault on a music festival in Nantes back in June that was creating a disturbance making noise at 430 in the morning.
Confrontations between the demonstrators dominated by the black of the anarchists as opposed to the Yellow of the Yellow Vests and the police. Tear gas clouds in the streets of Nantes by late afternoon. Video from "Russia Today" of the confrontation.....NANTES-RT VIDEO

Yellow Vests protests are outside the cities and in the roots of the protest movement a protest against privatized toll roads with blockages of toll stations to allow free use of highways. This video from a distance was posted of a blockage today.......YELLOW VESTS TOLL ROAD BLOCKAGE

And the picture that emerges today is one of continued protests calling for things like the "RIC" the "Citizens Initiative Referendum" and for the resignation of President Emmanuel Macron. The "black blocs" of anarchists designate a site to congregate and fight police with their tactics.
But the peaceful Yellow Vests continue their protests with numbers at least in the tens of thousands nationwide and we shall see what happens as we move into fall.
