Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calling for a "unity government" with the main opposition party Blue and White  Party Thursday.

99.8 percent of votes now counted now showing former IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz's "Blue and White" Party the leading political party in Israel's parliament with 33 seats as opposed to Netanyahu's Likud with 31.

Israel's Central Election's Committee announcing the final official results next Wednesday.

Blue and White Party officials see Netanyahu's offer as an attempt to put their party into a bad light should its efforts to form a new government fail.

Security correspondent Amos Harel of "Haaretz" offering analysis today that the possibility exists of a deliberate escalation of a defense-security crisis to allow Prime Minister Netanyahu to form an emergency government and delay the formation of a new government following the elections.

Mr. Netanyahu is facing indictment in three separate corruption cases with Attorney General Avechai Mandelblit  planning a pre-indictment evidence review hearing early next month.

Syria says its air defenses shot down a drone south of Damascus late Thursday evening.   The government news agency says the shootdown occurred near the town of Aqraba.

Two pilots ejecting from a Belgian F-16 aircraft that crashed Thursday.   One of them ended up stuck on a high voltage power line.   He was rescued two hours later.
