NEWS SUMMARY-INTELLIGENCE REPORT THURSDAY 3/28-FRIDAY 3/29/2019

Prime Minister Theresa May making a renewed effort Friday to force through her Brexit plan with the EU.    Her latest scheme splitting the deal into two and only putting what is called the "withdrawal agreement" up for a vote.  A "political declaration" would come later.

Friday March 29th was set as the day for leaving the European Union after the Leave side won the 2016 referendum.

May's proposal set for a vote at 230 pm Friday in London, 1030 am Eastern US time.

As matters stand right now an up vote today (Friday) would put any Brexit back to May 22nd with a down vote creating a new April 12th Brexit date.

Mrs. May appears to be dozens of votes short of winning in Parliament Friday.

Supporters of a real and meaningful Brexit plan to gather outside Parliament at various locations starting at 3pm Friday afternoon for a massive protests.   They see the May plan as "Brexit In Name Only" and a sellout to the EU that keeps the UK in and doesn't take it out.

Posting on Twitter Thursday night United Kingdom Independence Party leader Gerard Batten reporting that police are moving in water cannon for tomorrow's protest and expressing concern that the police and or "provocateurs" may try to turn the Brexiteers peaceful protests violent.

In Venezuela, the Maduro regime issuing a decree that Interim President Juan Guaido cannot hold public office for 15 years.

This could be a prelude to more arrests of either Guaido or people close to him by the Maduro government.

Russia expressing its concern that the United States will use the Dutch island of Curacao near Venezuela for military operations against Venezuela.

The Russians have deployed 100 soldiers to the country apparently to develop Venezuela's air defenses.

Russia would like to see Special Prosecutor's Robert Mueller's report.   Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that during an interview with the Echo of Moscow radio station.

Speaking at a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan Thursday night President Trump said the "Russian hoax is finally dead" and that the Mueller report is a "total exoneration" of him.

Meanwhile,  Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow telling the media including the "Fox and Friends" show that


President Trump wants "comprehensive immigration reform"


Sekulow said:

"Lets focus on things for the American people.   The president said he is in favor of comprehensive immigration reform-let's get it"


The President has made comments saying he wants more people allowed into this country on grounds that the economy is booming on a number of occasions including his confrontation with CNN reporter Jim Acosta last November.

James Alex Fields Jr. pled guilty to 29 federal hate crimes charges, each carrying a life sentence, Wednesday.   It was a plea deal to avoid the death penalty.  Fields guilty pleas in connection with the death of one left-wing protester and injury to others in the aftermath of the nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia in August 2017.

Fields already convicted and sentence to life in prison on state charges of killing protester Heather Heyer and injuring others.

A larger group of left-wing protesters had surrounded the nationalist rally and Fields maintained that he rammed his car into crowd out of fear of the leftists.

A statement issued by US Attorney General William Barr in connection with the case reading in part:

"In the aftermath of the mass murder in New Zealand earlier this month, we are reminded that a diverse and pluralistic community such as ours can have zero tolerance for violence on the basis of race, religion or association with people of other races and religions."


In Christchurch, New Zealand Friday a memorial service for the victims of the mass murder attacks at two mosques two weeks ago that killed 50 people and injured dozens of others.

20,000 in attendance with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern speaking, Muslim leaders and a performance by Yusuf Islam, formerly Cat Stevens, who converted to Islam in the 1970's.   One of the songs he sang was his hit  "Peace Train".

In the Canadian province of Quebec the new government of the CAQ Party introducing legislation to control display of religious symbols in government buildings by persons in positions of authority like judges, law enforcement officers and teachers.    

It would bring Quebec's laws more into the line of those in France where mainstream politicians have enacted this type of law in recent years.

Kippas, skull caps and turbans would be banned but the government is agreeing to allow the crucifix to be displayed in the provincial legislature.

The CAQ Party is moderately critical of social and cultural disruptions caused by mass immigration into the province primarily by Muslims and its views likely helped it to win last year's election in Quebec.

Speaking at the State Department Thursday, the US Ambassador for Religious Freedom said that China "must end" its "counterproductive policies" hostile to religious groups.

Sam Brownback citing persecution of Christians and Buddhists and also bringing up Chinese policies aimed at its Muslim minority including detention camps where sexual abuse and deaths have been reported.

The Chinese treatment of the Muslim minority Uighurs has become a major issue this year among governments and the media.

President Trump weighing on the decision by a Chicago prosecutor to drop charges against actor Jussie Smollett Thursday for making false allegations of a racist and homophobic attack by supporters of the President.

Trump's tweet saying:  

"FBI and DOJ to review the outrageous Jussie Smollett case in Chicago.   It is an embarrassment to our nation!"


The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan rallying supporters with a social media livestream Thursday ahead of local government elections Sunday.   Erdogan blamed interest rate fluctuations of the Turkish currency on Western nations led by the United States trying to back Turkey into a corner noting:

"What happened to exchange and interest rate operations now?  They backfired"


Erdogan also said President Trump's endorsement of Israeli sovereignty in Syria's Golan Heights is:

"supporting Israel's Netnayahu to help him win the upcoming Israel elections on April 9th"




The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says seven were killed in  Israeli airstrikes late Wednesday night.

The airstrikes in the Aleppo area were said to be on Iranian targets with SOHR group saying those killed were Iranians or linked to Iranian militias.

The Israeli attack comes within two weeks of Israel's general election on April 9th.

Israel's Acting Foreign Minister Israel Katz would not confirm an Israeli role in the attack he described as a "militarily challenging operation".

Word from the Syrian side is that seven bombs were used of the kind only used by F-35 aircraft.

Political polling in France this week two months before the European Parliament elections shows
President Emmanuel Macron's "La Republique en Marche" (LReM) Party in a virtual dead head with Marine Le Pen's "National Rally" (RN) Party.    Macron's party at 22.5 percent and Le Pen's at 22 percent.

Other parties showing in the polling include "The Republicans" (LR) AT 14 percent and the Socialists at 6 percent, the mainstream parties of the "Left" and "Right" in France.     The left-wing "France Insubordinate" (LFI) Party of Jean Luc-Melenchon shows up with 7.5 percent support.

And that's the way it really is as we come into this Friday morning March 29th, 2019.
