NEWS SUMMARY-INTELLIGENCE REPORT TUESDAY 3/26-WEDNESDAY 3/27/2019

(WORK IN PROGRESS WITH EDITING, ADDITIONS, ETC. UNTIL 545 AM WEDNESDAY)

The Battle of Brexit with plenty of words from political leaders and talking head pundits but in the end actions will speak louder than words.

The schedule of events Wednesday includes Prime Minister Theresa May facing Question Time in the House of Commons midday with votes on amendments Wednesday evening.

Those amendments will move Brexit away from the vision of a total withdrawal from the European Union envisioned by the Leave activists in the 2016 referendum when the Leave side won.

The March 29th deadline for Brexit also expected to be scuttled.

But before that happens Prime Minister May will address Conservative Party members of Parliament at a meeting of the "1922 Committee".

That meeting at 5 pm London time Wednesday, 1 pm Eastern US time may produce some last minute surprise before the later votes.

In recent days those who claimed to be Leave supporters as in  Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg of the "European Research Group" have moved in the direction of supporting Theresa May's Brexit plan considered to be a sellout to the EU by Brexit activists like "Mr. Brexit" Nigel Farage.

Another sign of the political machine's manipulation might be in the use of pink paper ballots for the Parliamentary votes Wednesday night.  The usual separation of House of Commons members into separate rooms to count them is out the door.

The Algerian Army Chief of Staff has called for application of the country's Constitution to remove President Abdel Aziz Bouteflika from office.

In a televised speech, General Ahmed Gaid Salah said a "solution" is needed within the constitution to the mass demonstrations demanding that Bouteflika  leave office.

Article 102 of the Algerian constitution provides for declaration that the president of the country is unable to exercise office because of serious illness.  Bouteflika has not been seen in public for years after he suffered a stroke in 2013 and recently returned to the country from medical treatment in Switzerland.

Smollett appeared at court hearing where a judge sealed the case Tuesday.

Smollett said he has always "been truthful" from day one.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said the dropping of charges was a:

"whitewash of justice"

The decision to drop charges called an:

"just disposition and appropriate resolution to the case"

by the Cook County State Attorney's Office.

Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson says he does not think justice is served by the decision saying among other things that the city is owed an "apology".

It is reported that a federal investigation of Smollett is underway for mail fraud because he is alleged to have sent a death threat letter through the mail.

The political party of German Chancellor Angela Merkel is calling for a European version of the FBI to fight organized crime and terrorism.

The Christian Democratic Union-Christian Social Union (In Bavaria) argues that:

"What we need in Europe is a security union"

The CDU-CSU wants the current European police agency Europol to be converted into an FBI-like agency.    They also argue for a Europe-wide database on anyone who is a potential terrorist.

These positions are being taken by Merkel's party for the European Parliament elections scheduled in May.

This story was reported by the Turkish Anadolu News Agency at this link.....HERE

Joint Russian-Turkish patrols in northern Syria's Aleppo and Idlib provinces have begun, that according to Turkey's Defense Ministry.

The patrols are in the more peaceful zones of Syria's north and not the lines of confrontation between jihadists and Syrian government forces in the north.

And that's the way it really is on this Wednesday morning March 27th, 2019.
