French Left Political Leader Jean Luc-Melenchon's Message To French Soldiers On Duty Saturday During The Yellow Vests Protests Guarding "Fixed Points"

Its crackdown time for the government of President Emmanuel Macron after the "black blocs" of anarchists put on a riotous show along the Champs-Elysees and nearby it last Saturday.

(315 AM EASTERN US TIME, 815 AM FRANCE)

A few minutes ago a photo op began with the new police chief in Paris stepping out of his car.

The Arc de Triomphe was in Didier Lallemont's background as he began a walk down the Champs-Elysees talking to officers stationed there.

A walk continuing right now.

Lallemont was transfered up from Bordeaux where defended his officers when they beat up a member of parliament after a Yellow Vests protest there.

National Assembly member Loic Prudhomme bloodied in the ear in that incident.

The video we have seen this morning includes pictures of riot police (CRS) walking up and down the sidewalks on the Champs-Elysees.

Meanwhile a protest set for Nice from Yellow Vests at 10am.   One of more than 100 protests announced across France today for Week 19.

The mayor in Nice imposing a ban on protests in Nice after 4 pm today and through Sunday.  His reasoning being the arrival of President Macron there as well as the Chinese President Xi Jinping, who's touring a number of nations now visiting Italy on his way to France.

The government show for the cameras continues in Paris with Interior Minister Christophe Castaner and Premier Edouard Philippe being brought into a police command center by the new Prefect of Police in Paris, Didier Lallemont.

Various measures discussed by the new police boss in Paris including the use of two drones to monitor any demonstrations that materialize today.

Protest is expected in the Trocadero area of Paris today.

We are now seeing video from Nice of the protest underway there with large numbers of police visible.

(550 AM EASTERN, 1050 AM FRANCE)

A hundred or so protesters with as many police present in Nice right now a calm atmosphere at the protest site.

Video feeds we are searching for them and see on You Tube something showing video from Nice with Paris blank in a split screen.

(735 AM EASTERN, 1235 PM FRANCE)

Police in Nice moved the Yellow Vests away from their protest site (Place Garibaldi) and six arrests were reported there.   They were moving towards a different location.

I was not correct in my reporting earlier since a ban did start in Nice not at 4 pm this afternoon but at 4 am this morning.

In Paris three different sites of protest are reported away from the banned areas.

(755 AM EASTERN, 1255 PM FRANCE)

I am aware of the protest from Rouen in Normandy with a protester talking into the camera, but don't see video of the crowd.

This video from today's protest in Lille....."ACTE 19' MARCHE DE GILETS JAUNES ENTRE TOURCOING ET LILLE

(835 AM EASTERN, 135 PM FRANCE)

Yellow Vests figure Eric Drouet apparently among those arrested today for participating in an unauthorized demonstration with a fine imposed but Drouet refusing to sign papers associated with his prosecution.

A confrontation between some protesters and police in Paris but a procession now moving in the streets of the city.

(840 AM EASTERN TIME, 140 PM FRANCE)

Its time to bring this to a close but one can see signs in the crowd with one sign visible in the Paris procession calling for the RIC (Citizen Initiative Referendum), a consistent demand of the Yellow Vests movement.

Protests going on today at over 100 locations in France.

Time to close this post but a summary will be published on the blog later in late afternoon-evening period.

And yes "La Repression En Marche" the sign at the front of the Paris procession a swipe at President Emmanuel Macron's political party called "La Republique En Marche".
