Hundreds of police massed as concrete barriers were erected early this morning in New Zealand's capital of Wellington at the Freedom Convoy protest opposing COVID mandates.
Late in the day drama from the Children's Commissioner of New Zealand questioning the presence of children at the protest.
And there was a standoff as police attempted to tow some vehicles away at the protest.
In the face of the massive and sustained COVID Freedom Camp outside Parliament New Zealand's Opposition Leader Christopher Luxon today continued his adamant support of the COVID vaccines and vaccination.
But he did ask the government of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to offer among other things a roadmap for the ending of vaccine mandates in New Zealand and he laid his vision for the lifting of such mandates.
Ardern did not offer specific details about vaccine mandates ending instead choosing to defend them and other restrictions and urging the protesters outside Parliament to leave.
Late today the protest issued a news released calling on Prime Minister Ardern to immediately lift mandates.
They also called for talks with the government and lamented the fact that all major political parties in New Zealand are putting their own self-interest ahead of the interests of those hurt by the COVID mandates.
