"The people involved in the protest, while some of them have engaged in reprehensible behaviour, and the protest altogether continues to make unacceptable interruptions to Wellingtonians going about their life, are nonetheless people who are human, who are part of New Zealand.

And eventually we need a way to glue this country back together when this is all over."

As this post begins let's note the 18-hour time difference it is now 2 pm Wednesday afternoon in New Zealand's capital city as it's 8 pm Eastern US Time in the United States Tuesday.

New Zealand's David Seymour, leader of the small ACT Party, was the only parliament member to oppose the massive firearm confiscation that followed the mosque attacks in Christchurch in March of 2018.

His stand for personal liberty when it came to firearms did not translate into any kind of stand for personal liberty when it came to COVID shots Seymour bluntly insisting that one of his party's followers not be a "dickhead" and get the COVID vaccine jabs.

Seymour is now realizing his party's future (it's down in the polls) may actually lie with those protesters in the street who believe in the kind of vaccine freedom he has not supported.

Seymour has been out on the streets talking to local residents and the protesters trying to talk out of both sides of his mouth expressing some sympathy for the protest while dissing it with the police-government-media line about how wrong it is.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has reacted admonishing Seymour according to a late report from the "New Zealand Herald".   Also TV One News reports that Opposition Leader Christopher Luxon of the National Party has joined in the criticism.

Meanwhile the main opposition National Party put up a motion of no-confidence in the Speaker of Parliament Trevor Mallard.    Mallard had the sprinklers on the parliament grounds turned on dousing the Freedom Convoy protesters last week.

These political moves by the Opposition today only serve to underscore the impending police operation to remove the thousands of protesters and hundreds of vehicles in the streets near Parliament.

Such an operation has huge political risk for Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's government and the Opposition parties are obviously positioning themselves to capitalize if the government comes out looking bad over it.

In the "New Zealand Herald" article linked above an operation taking days is laid out involving police and even the military in efforts to move out protesters and then remove the vehicles including trucks.

Meanwhile the protest leaders have issued a statement saying they intend to stay until mandates are lifted in New Zealand emphasizing the non-violence of their protest and responding to the government-media accusations against them.  That statement linked above.

This video has been posted on You Tube explaining the true nature of the protest that began last week outside New Zealand's Parliament...

New Zealand is a nation with two main islands (North and South).   Wellington is on North and in the major city of the South island a similar smaller protest opposing the COVID-19 mandates is underway.   One New New Zealand offers the mainstream media spin on that protest...

The reporting in Wellington on Wednesday is that the protest continues but that police seem to be more visible and organized on the streets around Parliament as well as lining the area right in front of the Parliament Building.

Good Night and God Bless.
