SPRINGBOK RADIO OPENING DANIE SMUTS
A blast from the past, what I used to hear on shortwave radio in the 1970's, local radio from South Africa.
No internet back then, but the shortwaves brought information from around the world in my home back then.
Local radio in English from New Zealand, Australia and other places like Kuwait and Israel.
The BBC World Service and the list goes on also with all kinds of information coming in.
Getting back to South Africa, its easy to moralize about racism and apartheid but before the "Reformed National Party" took over in 1948 there was a war against the Afrikaaners, the Boers.
The British Empire enforcing "world order" and the Boers were put in the first institutions called "concentration camps". The Wikipedia entry lists 26,000 Afrikaaner deaths in those camps along with 14,000 South Africans who were black.
Out of the bitterness of that experience came apartheid and out of apartheid the modern anarchy and drift of South Africa towards Communist China.

SOUTH AFRICA TODAY
Out of the ashes of the Holocaust came Israel and this continuous fight and struggle played out in a deadly barrage of rockets over the weekend from Gaza with four Israelis killed. Retaliatory strikes killed more than 20 in Gaza according to the authorities there.
Again as in the past money will be transferred into Gaza to supposedly pacify it, but the previous transfers of money only preludes to the next rocket barrage.

The BBC up with the story that the election for mayor of Istanbul will be run even though the opposition won the first time. The Erodgan government getting its wishes for a second election even though they lost the first one by more than 20-thousand votes.
Just like people in the UK want a second referendum on Brexit after losing the first time and if May and or Corbyn go that way they are no better than Erdogan in Turkey.

Iran being pushed and squeezed just like Japan was in 1940 and 1941 and we all know what happened next. World War 2 a needed war because of World War 1, but do we need a new war now?
Our economy doing OK without it.

That ruling from a Spanish court after the country's electoral commission said No. Puigdemont fled the country to avoid prosecution for sedition among other things following the independence referendum and proclamation in 2017.

But why should we get angry when Bibi Netanyahu is content to let the cash flow in the direction of Gaza from Qatar?
Why waste time getting angry about things when politicians twist and turn and do what they want to anyway?
I stand with Israel but not with politicians and I'm not in the business of being angry with people either. It doesn't work.
