"The US strongly condemns Maduro's move to block the National Assembly from its constitutionally-protected legislative duty"


That tweet Tuesday evening from US National Security Adviser John Bolton after the Venezuelan police and security forces of the Nicolas Maduro regime blocked legislators of the National Assembly from entering their building to meet.

Meanwhile, the Venezuelan Supreme Court acted to accuse four more members of the opposition in the National Assembly of treason Tuesday.


"There won't be any war.  The Iranian nation has chosen the path of resistance"


Those the words of the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.     Under the Iranian system, the ayatollah has ultimate authority over the country's government.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says the US "fundamentally" does not seek war with Iran but wants Iran to act like a:

"normal country"


Pompeo spoke in Sochi, Russia as he met Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.


The US State Department has ordered non-essential personnel to leave Iraq amid the tensions with Iran.


The Associated Press reporting that satellite imagery of four ships that Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates say were sabotaged near the entrance to the Persian Gulf does not show any serious damage.

CBS News reports that a US military team sent to assess the vessels concluded that the damage was done to them by "Iran or Iranian proxies".    The Associated Press told by the US military that there were "large holes" in the ships.

Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed attacks on vital Saudi facilities and Saudi Arabia now says two oil pumping stations were hit by drone attacks Tuesday morning.   A temporary shut down of a major east-west oil pipeline is reported.

Saudi Arabia is leading a military coalition backed by the United States waging war against the Houthis, who are backed by Iran.    Civilian deaths and suffering caused by the war have been the source of controversy with President Trump vetoing an attempt by Congress to cut off US support for the war.

In Israel lawyers for Prime Minister Netanyahu obtaining the evidence against him from prosecutors ahead of a "pre indictment hearing".   Netanyahu's lawyers said they were not ready for a hearing last week because of non-payment of their bills.    But now they say the matter is resolved.

Netanyahu's lawyers are talking about a possible delay in the hearing but Attorney General Avechai Mandelblit says it must happen by July 10th.   The Israeli Prime Minister facing prosecution in three separate corruption cases.

The push in Israel's parliament for a new law to nullify judicial rulings is being condemned by judicial officials and opposition politicians.

The judicial officials say the new law threatens Israel's democracy while the opposition political figures see it as a way for Benjamin Netanyahu to nullify court rulings related to his prosecution in the three corruption cases.

British Prime Minister Theresa May's controversial Brexit treaty with the European Union, denounced as "fake", a "sellout" and even "treason", is coming back for a vote in early June.  Mrs. May held talks with Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn Tuesday evening as she seeks to find a combination of MP's from the two major parties willing to buck widespread opposition and force the deal through.

At the end of the court hearing the two High Court judges hearing the case decided to agree with Attorney General Geoffrey Cox's request that Tommy Robinson be retried on the contempt charge that could lead to him being sent to prison for two years.



A Jewish woman stabbed in Sweden Tuesday and in critical condition.     She was approached by a man with a large knife in what is feared to be an anti-Semitic attack.    The attack occurred in the southern part of the country with a large population of Muslim migrants....

In Sri Lanka a nationwide curfew overnight Tuesday for a second night in a row and a round the clock curfew in the North Western province of the country to combat violence against Muslims in the country following last month's Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.

At least Muslim man was killed and authorities have made 60 arrests including a man described at the leader of a:

"far-right Buddhist group"


by the mainstream media.


Dozens of Muslim owned shops and mosques reported destroyed in the country's northwest.

From Syria word of the Syrian Army's continued northward advance in northern Hama province against positions occupied by jihadists Tuesday evening.

Six civilians killed, 14 killed in a Tuesday rocket attack on the city of Aleppo by the Turkish backed National Liberation Front (NFL) operating in northern Syria.


In Sudan an agreement between the opposition and military on a three year transition to civilian rule. Civilians will hold two-thirds of the seats on a legislative council.

Opposition forces continued streets demonstrations and maintained blockades after former President Omar al-Bashir was removed from power.  At least five opposition protesters and one member of the military had died in a clash just hours before the agreement was announced.

On the two month anniversary of the New Zealand mosque attacks Wednesday Facebook announcing curbs on its "Facebook Live" streaming feature.

A 'one strike policy' will ban anyone who violates the new "Facebook Live" rules.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the curbs on live streaming were:


"a good first step"


The mosque attacker, Brenton Tarrant, live streamed during the March 15th attacks.



Here in the USA the Board of Supervisors in San Francisco approving a ban on city agencies using facial recognition technology.   Among reasons cited was that the technology infringes on people's privacy and liberty.

In China such technology is being used to monitor and score the public behavior of Chinese citizens.

In the UK the hate crimes police dropping their investigation of comedian-broadcaster Danny Baker who tweeted a picture of the latest addition to the royal family as a chimpanzee in a suit.   The BBC fired Baker amid allegations that the tweet was racist.  Baker called it a bad decision but said he was not racist.

Comedic actor Tim Conway is dead at the age of 85.   Conway was part of the cast of "The Carol Burnett Show" in the 1970's, but before that he starred in the 1960's sitcom "McHales Navy" and was a TV star in Cleveland.
