Interim President Of Venezuela Juan Guaido Writes In The "New York Times"

President Donald J. Trump upped the ante Wednesday personally speaking by phone with the Interim President of Venezuela, Juan Guaido.

Trump tweeted that in his conversation with Guaido he:

"reinforced strong United States support for Venezuela's fight to regain its democracy"

The UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt also spoke with Guaido Wednesday with the UK expected to urge the EU to join in with sanctions on key figures in the Maduro regime.

The US representative on Venezuela, Elliot Abrams, says it would be "foolish" for Maduro to take any action against Guaido.

Guaido wrote in the "New York Times" about clandestine meetings with Venezuela's military seeking support for democracy in the country and in opposition to Maduro.

As the opposition to Maduro took to the streets Wednesday there were large crowds in the opposition strongholds in eastern Caracas.

In the traditionally pro-Maduro parts of western Caracas where protests have been held recently, the national police and riot police of the National Guard concentrated their efforts and kept protesters from taking to the streets.

More protests are planned for Saturday.

Also there was a report that Venezuela's gold supply was loaded onto a large Russian aircraft which left the country within the last 24 hours.

That according to National Assembly member Jose Guerra who said that central bank officials told him 20 tons of gold was loaded onto the Russian plane before takeoff.
