BUNKERVILLE STANDOFF:  THE LAST DEFENDANT IS SENTENCED-BRIAN CAVALIER

With Cliven Bundy, his wife Carol and Shawna Cox of the Oregon Standoff case among those in attendance, Brian Cavalier was sentenced at the federal courthouse in Las Vegas Tuesday.

Cavalier was sentenced to time served by US District Judge Gloria Navarro in his plea deal agreement with federal prosecutors.

Brian Cavalier was one of the hundreds who came in defense of Cliven Bundy's family following the seizure of his cattle by the Bureau of Land Management and placement of snipers around the ranch by the BLM.

The federal government was shutting down Bundy's grazing rights near his ranch in the name of protecting the desert tortoise. but evidence revealed at the trial of key defendants revealed the desert tortoise was not threatened.

The withholding of innocence proving evidence led to charges being dismissed against a large number of key defendants in the case including Bundy family members by US District Judge Gloria Navarro.

But others like Cavalier cut plea deals with federal prosecutors before that evidence was uncovered.

Judge Navarro's sentence beyond the 20 months already served in prison was one year of supervised release, ordering Cavalier to undergo substance abuse treatment and prohibiting him from communicating with others involved in the case.

There are still three men in prison in connection with Bunkerville including Jerry Delemus cutting a plea deal and the two others, Greg Burleson and Todd Engel, being convicted in a trial where the innocence proving evidence was hidden by the federal prosecutors from their defense lawyers.

This last sentencing could if the White House is interested open the door to President Trump considering pardons related to the case for those three men and any others.

The federal prosecutors in Las Vegas are appealing the dismissal of charges against Cliven Bundy and other defendants.
