NEWS SUMMARY-INTELLIGENCE REPORT SUNDAY 7/14-MONDAY 7/15/2019

(WORK IN PROGRESS THROUGH EARLY MONDAY)

"Fox News" reports the beginning of federal immigration raids Sunday in major cities targeting some 2-thousand in the country illegally among the millions.

But other media outlets have no confirmation that such raids have begun.

In what seems like an emotional distraction from the facts on the ground, a Presidential tweet was thrown out to draw media attention on Sunday morning.

It was directed at "Progressive" Democrat women in the House and read in part.

"....Why don't they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came...."

Opponents of the President were quick to see this type of comment as having racist overtones.   Its apparent targets four Democrats in Congress including Representative Alexadria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.

She said in part:

"You are angry because you can't conceive of an America that includes us..."

A man armed with a rifle opened fire and threw incendiary devices at a privately run prison for illegal immigrants in Tacoma, Washington early Saturday morning.

Four local police officers responded around 4 am to a report of an armed man.  When they called out to him he opened fire.

All the police officers also opened fire.

The gunman, 69-year old Willem Van Sponsen, found dead at the scene.

Police said he set a car on fire and tried to ignite a large propane tank and set buildings on fire.

A friend of Van Sponsen, Deb Bartley, told the "Seattle Times" that he was anarchist, anti-fascist and worte a manifesto that apparently explains his actions.

The "Seattle Times" also reports that Van Sponsen was arrested after an altercation during a protest outside the immigration prison last year.

Some 180 arrests reported in Paris as protesters from the Yellow Vests appeared in conjunction with Bastille Day festivities near and on the Champs-Elysees.   Police confiscated the vests of protesters around the perimeter of the festivities.

French President Emmanuel Macron booed by protesters as he reviewed troops from a command car before the military march.

On Sunday afternoon after the parade ended, protesters moved onto the Champs-Elysees throwing metal barriers onto the street and setting fires.    Police said they numbered 300.    Tear gas was fired at them repeatedly.

This protest group appeared to be anarchist "black blocs" who were masked in some cases.

Three leading figures in the Yellow Vest movement arrested by police.    Maxime Nicolle, Eric Drouet and Jerome Rodrigues.

They were released from custody after being held for several hours.

Another Canadian citizen has been detained by Chinese authorities.

While two other Canadians have been detained in what appears to be retaliation for the arrest of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou in Canada to face extradition to the United States,  this appears to be a different kind of case.

Chinese authorities have arrested both Chinese and foreign nationals who are teachers and students in a drug investigation which may be connected to the arrest of the Canadian.

In spite of a police warning,  the "Mail on Sunday" is continuing to publish the leaked messages to London from the resigned British Ambassador to the United States, Sir Kim Darroch.

The latest leaks include Darroch's assessment that President Trump's decision to pull out of the JCPOA nuclear agreement with Iran was to "spite" former President Barrack Obama.   Darroch also vouching for the authenticity of British intelligence operative Christopher Steele who's "Steele Dossier" is linked to the launching of investigations against President Trump during the 2016 campaign and afterwards on claims of collusion with Russia.

British police are actively investigating the leak to find out who is being it.

Britain, France and Germany have issued a joint statement reaffirming their committment to the JCPOA Iran nuclear deal and expressing concern about its future.

The British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt saying he wants to ease tensions but the tenor of the joint statement is one that sees Iran in a negative light over recent incidents in the Persian Gulf region including tanker attacks and the alleged attempt by Iran to seize a British oil tanker.
