FRANCE YELLOW VESTS:  BASTILLE DAY PROTEST IN THE CENTER OF PARIS, 180 ARRESTED

On Saturday limited protests by Yellow Vests but a call on social media for Sunday protest in the center of Paris during the Bastille Day festivities.

Police were deployed in the thousands seizing Yellow Vests but protesters numbering in the hundreds were on hand to shout for the resignation of President Emmanuel Macron and deliver boos his way as Macron reviewed soldiers from a command car before their holiday march down the Champs-Elysees.

It was after the parade that protest picked up in tempo on the famed avenue in Paris.    Metal barriers thrown down in the streets as protesters estimated to be 300 by police became active.

Some fires were lit and police began repeated tear gas attacks on the protesters.

They were wearing masks in some cases appearing to be "black bloc" anarchists.

Police made 180 arrests apparently trying to stop the protests from happening.

Some leading figures of the Yellow Vests among the arrested accused of staging an "illegal protest" and "rebellion" but they were later released and charges dropped.

Those arrested included Maxime Nicolle, Eric Drouet and Jerome Rodrigues.
