Vincent Lambert died at University Hopsital in Reims, France Thursday nine days after food and water were taken away from him.

His parents said that he was a disabled person deserving of care but the government with amplification from mainstream media spread the notion that the 42 year old man injured in a motorcycle accident was in a "persistent vegetative state" justifying his killing.

In the end France's highest court, the Court of Cassation, ruled in favor of killing Lambert.

His parents statement to the media was that it is now a time for "meditation" including:

"the meditation of this state crime"

In more detail here is another part of the parents statement:

"This cathedral of humanity that had been burning for a week before our helpless eyes has collapsed, and the dignity of this handicapped man,  condemned as disabled, has been ignored, respect for the life of a person.

It is a bit of our humanity to all who have gone today, so much is this despicable mistake that shakes the foundations of our law and our civilization reflects on all of us."
