As Vincent Lambert's parents see it he is a disabled person following a 2008 motorcycle accident but French doctors and the French government say he is in a "persistent vegetative state" and should be put to death by starvation just as Terri Schiavo was in the United States in March of 2005.

Following last Friday's ruling by France's highest court (Court of Cassation) overturning a Paris Appeals Court ruling of May 20th (hours after the killing process was started) preventing Vincent Lambert from being put to death, his parents now face the resumption of the starvation process.

His mother Viviane spoke to the Human Rights Council's meeting Monday and said in part:

"I send you a cry for help, without your intervention my son Vincent will be euthanized by a doctor because of his cerebral disability.   He is in a state of minimal consciousness.   He is not a vegetable... I beg you to intervene with France..."

A UN panel on disabilities has stated it wants to review Vincent Lambert's case, but the French government says it does not have to abide by the UN panel's wishes.

Viviane Lambert also spoke with France's BFM-TV saying in part:

"...we have the right to defend our son.   I will go to the end, nothing will stop me.   In Reims, in our son's room, it's terrible, we're going to see a prisoner....."
