The words of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange spoken through a video link to a court hearing in London Friday.   Its the beginning of an extradition process to the United States.


A lawyer representing the US  told the court that Assange's case involves:

"One of the largest compromises of confidential information in the history in the United States"


Chelsea Manning, former defense analyst, provided information that included details about violations of international law by US military forces in the post 9/11 period.

Manning is jailed right now for refusing to testify to a grand jury and eventually facing fines if she does not testify about her involvement in providing Assange with the information.

A chief magistrate ruling that a full five day extradition hearing will be held on February 25th next year.

Twitter account suspensions this week linked to women who say they are fleeing persecution in Saudi Arabia.     Multiple accounts from sisters who say they are in Turkey and are seeking refuge from persecution in their homeland taken out as well as the account of a human rights activist also suspended for talking about the plight of the Saudi women.

Iran's "Press TV" reports that the International Mobile Equipment Identity numbers on cellphones are being used by Saudi authorities to track down women fleeing the country...LINK



Saudi Arabia says it intercepted five drones Friday morning trying to attack an airport and city in the southern part of the country.

The drones launched by the Houthi rebels in neighboring Yemen, backed by Iran, fighting against a Saudi-led military coalition in Yemen's civil war.



"Iran did do it"



is what President Trump told "Fox and Friends" on TV Friday morning regarding the attacks on two oil tankers in the Sea of Oman Thursday morning.     The President cited the video released by the US Navy showing an Iranian ship pulling up next to one of the tankers to remove and unexploded mine as evidence of that.


A Japanese oil tanker owner says that two "flying objects" struck the ship.    He also said that Iranian naval vessels were seen in the area of the vessel before the attack.   This suggests that drones were used against the oil tankers.



The Iranian President Hassan Rouhani meeting Russia's President Vladimir Putin in the Central Asian nation of Kyrgzstan Friday.    Putin stressing that Iran and Russia have a relationship based on:

No that's not Iran talking, it's the Turkish Foreign Minister.

Mevlut Cavusoglu spoke to editors of the Turkish Anadolu News Agency about Turkey's purchase of Russia's S-400 air defense system.

The US has suspended activities related to purchase of the F-35 aircraft by Turkey and says it may stop the sale altogether if the Russian air defense system is put into use by Turkey.

Turkish military members training in Russia right now to operate the system and its delivery expected next month.

In Syria Friday word that Syrian and Russian aircraft carried out at least 35 airstrikes on jihadist  and nationalist opposition forces in northwestern Syria.   That's the estimate of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The airstrikes followed the reported breaking of yet another cease-fire by the anti-Syrian government side.

From  Hong Kong media reports Saturday say that the government will delay but not scrap plans for a controversial extradition law.   The Chinese territory's chief executive  Carrie Lam  appeared before reporters Saturday afternoon to confirm a delay.


The law would allow Hong Kong residents to be sent to the Chinese mainland.


Dozens injured in protests against the law last Wednesday with more protests scheduled for Sunday and Monday.



One of the contenders for Prime Minister in the UK is out.    Matt Hancock dropping out leaving six candidates for the next set of elimination votes among Conservative Party MP's Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Boris Johnson, winner of the first round vote Thursday, being targeted by the other five who have signed on to be part of televised debates Sunday and Tuesday.

The top two finishers among Conservative parliament members will be voted on by the Conservative Party membership of more than 120-thousand people.

The latest political polling in the UK for the next General Election puts the Brexit Party in the lead at 26 percent with the anti-Brexit Liberal Democrats at 22 percent.    The Labor Party stands at 19 percent and the Conservatives at 17 percent.


Following a recent measles outbreak, New York's legislature moving to end religious exemptions for vaccinations.

The ban on religious exemptions passed both houses Thursday and Governor Andrew Cuomo signed it within hours.

There were hundreds of measles cases in New York earlier this year centered among Orthodox Jews in both the New York City suburb of Rockland County and the Brooklyn borough of the city.

Charges against eight officials in connection with the contamination of Flint, Michigan's water supply in 2014 dropped.

The new Attorney General in Michigan who took office this year, Democrat Dana Nessel, backing away from prosecution saying in essence that her Republican predecessor's office failed to pursue all evidence in the matter.

Nessel has appointed a new special counsel in the case who is expected to pursue the notion that somehow former Republican Governor Rick Snyder was involved in the water contamination.

Seven other officials reached plea bargain deals earlier.

In the Eastern European nation of Moldova, the Democratic Party of Pavel Filip has relinquished their earlier claim to power bringing a political crisis to an end.

This will allow the government approved by President Igor Dodon that includes pro-European Union and pro-Russian political parties to hold power without challenge.

Russia and the EU came together in support of the coalition government in the face of the attempt by the Democratic Party to assume power through a court ruling in its favor.

President Dodon says that Moldovans have won a victory over the "usurpers of power" but that it is not "an ultimate victory".

A preliminary report on the accident involving a Russian airliner at Moscow's Sheremtyevo Airport May 5th says that lighting struck the plane knocking out its autopilot and disrupting communications with air traffic controllers.     41 killed after the plane made an emergency landing in Moscow 30 minutes after it took off.

Thousands of Venezuelans entered Peru Friday as the deadline approached for a new policy that will make it more difficult for migrants to enter Peru.

In Brazil Friday nationwide strikes by labor unions protesting the policies of President Jair Bolsonaro.      Some roads blockaded with tear gas employed by police in Rio de Janeiro.

Meanwhile, the man accused of stabbing President Jair Bolsonaro while he was campaigning last September acquitted because of mental illness.

A judge ruling that Adelio Bispo de Oliveira was not aware of his actions.

He was ordered jailed as 'high risk' so he can receive treatment for his illness.

President Bolsonaro quoted as saying he will contact his lawyer and seek to have the decision overturned.

And in Berlin a World War II bomb defused early Saturday morning after hours of work.

The 220 pound American bomb discovered Friday at a construction site some 10 feet underground.   A one thousand foot area cleared around the bomb with thousands evacuated from the site near Berlin's Alexanderplatz.
