VENEZUELA LATEST:  TRUMP URGES MILITARY TO SWITCH SIDES, 'LIVE AID' CONCERT SET FOR COLOMBIA FRIDAY

"The people of Venezuela are standing for freedom and democracy and the United States of America is standing right by their side"

President Donald J. Trump Speaks In Miami 2/18/2019

Speaking in Miami Monday afternoon President Donald Trump urged the Venezuelan military to stop its support for Nicolas Maduro and come out in support of Interim President Juan Guaido.

Trump noted that Guaido has offered amnesty and also warned that the US knows where the military has any ill gotten gains given to them by Maduro stashed in financial institutions.

The President laid out a vision of democracy for Venezuela that he hoped would spread to other left-wing ruled nations like Nicaragua and Cuba.

He also noted that "all options are on the table" in regard to Venezuela.

Meanwhile, the Virgin Atlantic founder and billionaire Sir Richard Branson is organizing an aid concert for Venezuela this Friday (February 22nd).

The concert is a "Live Aid" type event being held at the Colombian border town of Cucuta with hopes of raising 100 million dollars for humanitarian relief in Venezuela.

Branson is inviting international and regional artists to perform.

He tweeted:

"The humanitarian crisis in Venezuela worsens every day.  Join Venezuela Aid Live, support the cause to help the country's suffering people  venezuelaaidlive.com"

The event will be livestreamed online.

Branson told the Associated Press:

"I talked to Juan Guaido, and the team, the people around him, to see what could be most helpful.  And they said the thing that Venezuela needed the most was medical help in particular, money to be raised to try to keep doctors and nurses in Venezuela, not just leaving Venezuela, and just basic medical help."

Nicolas Maduro responded to Branson by saying he is organizing a concert of his own in Venezuela on Saturday and Sunday.   The Maduro regime says that aid for the country will be imported from Russia.

Maduro has opposed aid being sent in saying its a trick leading to a military invasion and will be used to enslave the people of Venezuela.

Guaido says he has enlisted 600,000 volunteers in Venezuela and Colombia to begin moving humanitarian aid arriving in Colombia across the border into Venezuela on Saturday.

Branson said:

"If they (Venezuelan troops) stop the aid coming through and there are pictures of hundreds of thousands of people wanting to come through from both sides, it will send out a potent message, a very powerful message to Venezuela, to everybody, that there is aid that is trying to get across, but the army is stopping it.

That hopefully will mean that Juan Guaido and his people will have a better chance to have another election where sense can prevail."

(SPECIAL COMMENT 4am Eastern Tuesday)

The globalists, corporatists led by Sir Richard Branson, noted for being anti-Brexit among other things, are trying to change the government in Venezuela.

But the Communist regime of Chavez and Maduro has failed miserably and caused great suffering.

Trump and others use the word "Socialist" to describe it so as to gain a political point in their fight with Democrats but I choose to call it not by the "Socialist" moniker of Soviet-style propaganda but by its always evil real name I knew it by in my youth "Communist".

For better or worse, this is what is happening.

I only wish the best for the long suffering people of Venezuela.
