(UPDATES, EDITING ADDITIONS ETC. POSSIBLE UNTIL 645 AM, LIMITED EDITION DUE TO WORK AND PERSONAL COMMITTMENTS)

In Ohio Republican Governor Mike DeWine is proposing a gas tax hike.  He would not reveal details about the proposed tax hike but the dollar figures in his proposed budget suggest a 14 cent a gallon hike, that's 50 percent more than the current 28 cent a gallon gas tax in the Buckeye State.

De Wine says the higher tax is needed to fund both major projects and maintenance of current highways and bridges.

He told reporters Tuesday:

"You have to have a gas tax increase, there's no doubt.   The day of reckoning is finally here and we have to face that."

Brazil is in on sending humanitarian aid across its border with Venezuela.    That word from the spokesman for Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro.

The Brazilians want to support the distribution of aid being organized by Interim President Juan Guaido.

But the Venezuelan government of Nicolas Maduro is committed to preventing the aid from getting into the country.   Maduro denying there are food and medicine shortages, promising aid from Russia and taking action to close the borders with both Colombia and the nearby Dutch island of Curacao.

His defense minister Vladimir Padrino appeared with high ranking military officers to pledge loyalty to Maduro and to pledge to block aid coming from the 50 plus countries that recognize Guaido as president.

The aid is portrayed as the vanguard of a military invasion with Padrino saying any attempt to change the government in Venezuela would happen over "our dead bodies".

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Moscow today meeting with Russia's President Vladimir Putin.    Syria and the Middle East situation overall under discussion.

A satellite image released yesterday by the Israeli ImageSat company reveals what appear to be three Russian S-300 air defense systems operational in Syria.

LATE WORD IS THAT MR. NETANYAHU DELAYED HIS TRIP FOR POLITICAL ACTIVITY IN ISRAEL.

He's running for president again as a Democrat in 2020.

Vermont's Independent Senator Bernie Sanders joining a large field of candidates which may be designed to shave votes away from him so former Vice-President Joe Biden wins the nomination.

In 2016 it was revealed that the Democratic Party machinery was being manipulated in favor of Hillary Clinton over Sanders who put up a strong showing in spite of the rigging of the nomination process.

A Congressional report says that sensitive nuclear power technology is being transferred to Saudi Arabia.

The Democrat controlled committee behind the report says it is concerned about nuclear weapons proliferation resulting from the construction of nuclear power plants in Saudi Arabia being promoted by the Trump Administration.

It says business firms linked to the president are pushing for nuclear transfers to Saudi Arabia.

This week Saudi Arabia's de-facto ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin-Salman visited Pakistan, a nuclear weapons power, agreeing to 20 billion dollars in support for that country.

In France a 36-year old laptop salesman who is a convert to Islam arrested for Anti-Semitic insults hurled at academic Alain Finkielkraut in Paris last Saturday.    The tirade came on the sidelines of a Yellow Vests protest and much blame was put on Yellow Vests for the incident.

And Yellow Vests got their wish last night when a former bodyguard for President Emmanuel Macron was in jail overnight.

Alexandre Benalla was jailed because he broke conditions of his judicial supervision talking to a former official in President Macron's political party also under investigation in connection with an incident on May 1st, 2018 when Benalla dressed up as a riot policeman and attacked May Day protesters in Paris.

Traditionalist Cardinals in the Roman Catholic Church say clericalism is not at the root of the sex abuse crisis, but a "homosexual agenda" within the church is behind it.

Cardinals Raymond Burke from the US and Walter Brandmuller from Germany issued an open letter on the eve of a bishops meeting at the Vatican to discuss the sex abuse crisis in the church.

The cardinals were part of a group of four who questioned Pope Francis in 2016 on whether divorced or remarried Catholics should receive the Holy Communion and in this new open letter Burke and Brandmuller criticize Francis for refusing to respond to those questions.

And that's the way it really is Wednesday morning February 20th, 2019.
