FRANCE YELLOW VESTS:  ITALIAN LEADER MEETS YELLOW VESTS RUNNING IN EURO PARLIAMENT ELECTIONS

"Today with Alessandro Di Battista we made a leap in France and we met the leader of the Yellow Waistcoats Christophe Chalencon and the candidates of the list RIC....."

Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Five Star Movement Leader Luigi Di Maio Tweet 2/5/2019

The leader of one of Italy's ruling parties was in Paris Tuesday meeting with Yellow Vests leadership and candidates running on a "Yellow Vests" list in this May's elections to the European Parliament.

Christophe Chalencon is one of the leaders of the RIC (Citizen Initiative Referendum) list in that election.

This group of candidates shares common views with Italy's Five Star Movement and the two groups could form a bloc in the European Parliament.

The other governing party in Italy, the League of fellow Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini, is in an alliance with France's National Rally party led by Marine Le Pen for the EU parliament elections.

BFM-TV in France did polling that indicates most people in France (52 percent) don't associate the Yellow Vests with any of the existing political parties in France.

Other polling has shown a "Yellow Vests" list getting up to 13 percent of the popular vote in May for the European Parliament elections.    With proportional representation in the EU parliament that could mean 10 Yellow Vests from France joining the 705 members being elected from all over Europe.
