Acting Defense Secretary Mark Esper announcing the deployment of 1,800 additional US troops to Saudi Arabia Friday.


The move said to be a boost of defenses against Iran.


Two more fighter squadrons along with Patriot and THAAD missile defense systems on the way to "the Kingdom".




The move comes hours after explosions were reported on an Iranian oil tanker that may have been caused by a missile attack.



The Iranian tanker was in the Red Sea near the Saudi Arabian port city of Jeddah.



The crew of the tanker is reported safe.


An oil leak has been caused by the explosions.

Iran hailing the notion of mediation in its relations with Saudi Arabia.   Foreign Minister Javad Zarif telling the Turkish TRT World channel that his country is open to talking with its neighbor Saudi Arabia including any intermediaries like Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan who is visiting Iran this weekend.




Intense fighting in northeastern Syria as the Turkish military continues its attack to take Kurdish controlled territory.      Dozens of members of the Kurdish "Syrian Democratic Forces" reported killed with a Turkish solider also reported killed.


One hundred thousand civilians reported to have fled the fighting.

President Trump tweeting Friday that he and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have authority to impose sanctions on Turkey over its actions in Syria.

In Syria Friday one Russian soldier and two Syrian soldiers wounded when and improvised explosive device exploded in southern part of the country.


The soldiers part of a joint patrol of Russian military police and Syrian soldiers in the western Daraa countryside.


The Russian Aerospace Forces (Air Force) active in northwestern Syria Friday bombing jihadist opposition positions in southern Idlib.

The wildfires in California and a major blaze forcing evacuation of some 100-thousand people in the northern Los Angeles Metropolitan Area.


A death reported as a result of the "Saddleridge Fire" with homes being engulfed in the blaze.


In northern California near Sacramento a man dead because of the PG and E power shut off to prevent the grid from starting wildfires.    The man who relied on an oxygen machine died after the power was turned off.

With Boris Johnson seeing progress towards a Brexit "deal" following "promising" talks between Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Ireland's Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, it appears that a strategy may be in play to create what Nigel Farage sees as a trick to leave the current European Union treaty and enter a new treaty calling the process "Brexit".

The French police moving against officers suspected of being Islamic extremists following the terrorist attack at Paris police headquarters a week before Thursday by an IT worker.


One French policeman has been suspended and another has had his weapon taken from him.



Hundreds of demonstrators wearing masks marching through Hong Kong's business district mid-day Friday as another round of democracy protests began in the city that's expected to continue through the weekend.

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a marathon news conference Thursday.  Zelensky met with small groups of reporters in one after the other at a food court in Kiev.    During the 14-hours of questioning Zelensky said there was nothing inappropriate in his phone conversation with President Trump.


He also said he was willing to open a probe into any Ukrainian interference in the 2016 presidential election in the United States.




Here in the USA Friday the House "impeachment inquiry" with a former US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch tesifying.    She was removed from her post in May of this year amidst disagreement with US policy in Ukraine.


A judge in South Africa opens to the door for former President Jacob Zuma to face trial on corruption  charges.   An attempt to thrown out the charges dismissed in court Friday.


Zuma suspected of receiving bribes from a French arms maker.



President Trump announcing the departure of Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan Friday.    He says a replacement will be selected next week.



Federal judges working in concert Friday with three separate courts in New York, California and Washington ruling to stop new rules that would deny green cards to immigrants getting Medicaid, food stamps and other forms of federal assistance.


Those rules were set to take effect next week.


Another federal judge ruling Friday that its OK for the House to subpeona financial records of President Trump's business dealings.



The final debate in Canada ahead of the election a week from Monday.    The six political party leaders focused much of their debate on oil pipelines.     Pipelines a contentious issue in Canada.


Prime Minister Justin Trudeau opposed them when Barack Obama was President of the United States and opposed them as well.   But when Donald Trump became President and  reversed course in favor of pipelines, Trudeau followed changing his position.

Smith said to have asked the network to leave.   He told viewers he plans to "begin a new chapter".



A tentative trade deal with China reported Friday.   The deal said to include more importing of US agricultural products by the Chinese.   President Trump calls the deal good for both countries.




More business news and the shakeup at two major auto makers involved in a troubled alliance.    Renault moving Friday naming an interim CEO and looking for a permanent replacement.


Partner company Nissan named a CEO earlier this week.
