Iran is now saying that a Ukrainian airliner was shot down by accident early Wednesday morning when it came near a sensitive military site but first......



House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is now saying she will send the articles of impeachment against President Trump to the Senate for a trial.


Pelosi had previously said she was waiting until she could determine if the Senate was going to hold a proper trial before sending those articles along.


Earlier in the week Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he had the votes to run the upcoming impeachment trial without witnesses that the Democrats had suggested were needed for a proper trial.





Three Republicans joined the Democrats in voting for the war powers resolution symbolically limiting President Trump's power to make war against Iran.


Libertarian Congressman Republican Thomas Massie of Kentucky noted that he has been consistent in supporting war powers restrictions introducing similar legislation during the presidency of Barack Obama.


And the staunch defender of President Trump in the impeachment controversy, Representative Matt Gaetz of Florida, says its "ludicrous" to say that Congress can't do its job so the military can do its job.

Islamic State (ISIS) issuing a statement in support of the death of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani describing it as an act of divine intervention.


The United States announcing sanctions on Iran in retaliation for the missile attacks on US bases in Iraq Tuesday night.   Eight senior Iranian officials named along with steel companies and other Iranian businesses.



Eight reported dead in eastern Syria after an air attack on pro-Iranian militia in the border area with Iraq.


Israel is believed to be behind the attack.



The Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi is asking the US to plan the safe withdrawal of its military forces in accordance with the law approved by Iraq's parliament.   


Mahdi brought up the issue with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a Thursday phone calling for the US to send a delegation to discuss a US troop pullout plan.


But the US says it intends to maintain its forces in Iraq in the name of fighting ISIS.

Cease-fires in Syria and Libya were agreed on when Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met Tuesday in Istanbul but those cease-fires are coming up short on the ground.

In Libya the proposed cease-fire to take effect Midnight Sunday rejected by Libyan National Army leader Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.



Russia's Defense Ministry says that the US Navy destroyer USS Farragut crossed the traffic lane of a Russian spy ship in the Arabian Sea Thursday.    The US Navy earlier claiming that the Russian vessel "aggressively approached" the US destroyer.

Earlier Iran's top civil aviation official said on Friday that it was certain that no missile hit the Ukrainian airliner that crashed near Tehran early Wednesday morning.    Iran is inviting foreign participation into its investigation of the crash.


Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky also said Friday it was too early to say for certain what caused the crash and he is vowing to "establish the truth" about the cause.




In Algeria today police breaking up demonstrations against the government and making arrests.


Demonstrations have been going on for nearly a year every Friday in the country.  Recent elections seen as a sham because they involved candidates of the existing political elite in the country.


The British and Irish governments forcing a restoration of devolved government in Northern Ireland today.


The largest party, the Democratic Unionists, saying yes and the second largest party, the Irish nationalist and leftist Sinn Fein, holding off on agreeing to join a government until it was late at night.
