YELLOW VESTS MARCH IN PARIS SATURDAY 12/23/2023
When the immigration law deal was cut last Tuesday Marine Le Pen proclaimed an:
"ideological victory"
After the vote President Emmanuel Macron claimed the new law was a way to stop the National Rally from gaining strength politically.
Many of the left-leaning members of his grand Centrist alliance dismayed dozens voting against the law and others abstaining.
However tough or not so tough the immigration law is the Constitutional Council of France gets final say on it some parts may be thrown out.
The legislation sets targets for immigration in the next three years formalizing the notion of a limited number of people allowed to enter France.
The legislation also helps the business interests of France Macron represents by formalizing the use of foreign workers in important jobs.
The disruption in President Macron's ranks illustrated after the new law was approved.
Health Minister Aurelien Rousseau resigned and another cabinet minister responsible for Higher Education Sylvie Retiailleau submitted hers, but it was refused by President Macron.
EMMANUEL MACRON WILL NOT RUN IN THE 2027 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.
FOR NOW, AS HIS MOVEMENT CONSIDERS POSSIBLE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES IN A RACE WHERE MARINE LE PEN PERSONALLY LOOKS STRONG AND IDEAS OF THE RIGHT GAIN POPULARITY MR. MACRON CONTINUES TO IRK THE LEFT.
FROM PENSION REFORM TO LAW AND ORDER AND IMMIGRATION HE HAS SPARKED ANGER FROM THOSE QUARTERS.
NOW MACRON HAS WEIGHED IN ON THE RAPE AND SEXUAL ALLEGATIONS SWIRLING AROUND LEGENDARY ACTOR GERARD DEPARDIEU.
HE SPOKE OF A 'MANHUNT' AGAINST DEPARDIEU.
