That leaves current Prime Minister Yair Lapid in place as a caretaker.
One notion out there will Benjamin Netanyahu ditch all the conservative forces aligned with him nationalist and religious and cut a deal for a "mainstream" government with Defense Minister Benny Gantz's "National Unity Party" and Mr. Lapid's "Yesh Atid".
In his youth Mr. Netanyahu was in the United States working at a company with a young Mitt Romney.
Will he be a Mitt Romney in the face of the Ukraine matter and Recession and the drive for "Agenda 2030" and the need to change the world because of "climate change"?

With all the talk about the rise of the "far-right" in Israel Joe Biden's ambassador there very muted Thomas Nides focused on praising the "high turnout" of Israeli voters and saying it's too early to talk about what kind of government will emerge.

62.5 percent turnout in Israel reported as of 7 pm local time.
The political contenders tonight 11 different parties likely to share the 120 seats in the Knesset (Parliament) dished out proportionally to all parties over 3.25 percent of the popular vote.
The Top Parties first of course Likud led by Opposition Leader Benjamin Netanyahu likely to get either side of 30 seats.
The Yesh Atid led by current Prime Minister Yair Lapid likely to win 24 to 27 seats.
Next in line a new rising alliance of religious and nationalist forces in Israel the Religious Zionism Party gaining most likely 12 to 15 seats.
Then comes the National Unity Party some ex-Likud members and a group of former generals. This party led by former Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff and current Defense Minister Benny Gantz. This party in the 10-12 seat range if the polls are right.
THE POLLS CLOSE AT 10 PM IN ISRAEL, 4 PM EASTERN US TIME THE PROJECTIONS WILL COME THEN FOLLOWED BY A VOTE COUNT LIKELY TO TAKE MOST OF 24 HOURS.

The story that Lihi Lapid is a Messianic Jew or a "Jew for Jesus".
A Messianic preacher posted a video last week calling her a "believer" followed by changes to her website pointing in that direction and even her "Wikipedia" entry.

The Arab vote an increasing share of the Israeli electorate Arab parties on the ballot but Mr. Yapid's "Yesh Atid" actively seeking Arab support in its bid to beat Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud Party into second place in today's vote.
