I took a lower paying minimum wage job (160 dollars a week) in religious broadcasting and lived at home with my parents instead of that 250 dollar a week offer to be a reporter in Little Rock, Arkansas.
There was probably something dirty in that job too watching the Clinton Crime Family in its formative years.
But I was living an emotional religious political fantasy back then.
I GUESS MY PRIDE, VANITY AND EGO IN 1982 FIT IN WELL WITH RELIGIOUS MEDIA
Sad to sit around the satellite dishes and see what I saw on them heck one religious broadcaster shared his transponder time on one satellite with Hugh Hefner so it was 14 hours "Christian Programming" and the other 10 hours "Playboy Channel".
Sad that I lived the double life there watching that stuff in the control room one wrong move on the switcher in that control room and porn would have gone out over the air.
It did in the 1990's on a religious TV station I recall and I was not surprised based on my experience.
Others did this at the station not everyone but I don't want to deflect from the wrong way I lived my life in religious broadcasting.
Now I think I did some good things there as far as learning about news reporting and editing videotape and all that things related to my professional future but it's sad to realize that I was a:

Self-righteous hypocrisy all of us drunks are like that transcends religions and is even among the non-religious.
The religious and non-religious fight each other to avoid facing the truth about themselves IMHO.

I woke up around 7am September 5th, 1972 here in the Eastern US the terrorists struck almost eight hours before. I was young my mom needed my help that morning we were going on the road.

Later in the day I got home and heard ABC Radio with Peter Jennings and Howard Cosell among others news and sports broadcasters bringing the news story to the world.
But then I switched on TV saw the picture going with their voices on ABC-TV.
A lot of coverage during the day ABC dominating the story as it unfolded the hostages and terrorists leaving by helicopter for an airport on part of the coverage...
ABC Sportscaster Jim McKay had worked for CBS in 1960 he was set to anchor the Winter Olympics but had a "nervous breakdown".
Walter Cronkite stood in.
In 1972 Jim McKay reported news taking over the Walter Cronkite role on a major news story...
