Italian voters going to the polls today the first female prime minister in the country's history is expected with a victory for the three-party group of the "Right".
The polls closing at 11 pm local time (5 pm Eastern US Time).
As of 7 pm voter turnout 51 percent as opposed to 58 percent at 7 pm in the 2018 Election. The final turnout only 65 percent down nine percent from 2018.
The latest exit poll shows the "Right" group of parties led by Giorgia Meloni of the Brothers of Italy the victors.
The "Center-Right" group at 43.82 of the popular vote in the projection.
That translates to between 227 to 257 seats in the 400 seat Chamber of Deputies and 111 to 131 seats in the 200 seat Senate.
The "Center-Left" projected at 27.08 percent.
The Five Star Movement at 14.95 percent.
Among the individual political parties the Brothers of Italy projected at 26.44 percent.
