US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says the US is entitled to impose sanctions on Iran under the JCPOA nuclear agreement even though President Trump pulled the US out of it in 2018. Pompeo says that the US is a party to a UN resolution during Barack Obama's presidency that mentions the "snapback" sanctions if Iran is in violation of JCPOA.
Pompeo, speaking at a news conference with British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, says the US will do all it can to enforce the new sanctions starting next week......ISRAEL NATIONAL NEWS
The Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is saying that the US has suffered a "humiliating defeat" in the recent UN Security Council decision against those "snapback" sanctions. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova says that Turkey is dragging its feet on committments in northwest Syria's Idlib region. Her comments come after talks this week between Turkey and Russia which are joint guarantors of a cease-fire in the region.
