The scope of the Saturday protest in Berlin against house arrest measures was greater than earlier reported.      The protest involved nearly one thousand people.     There was also a protest in another German city, Stuttgart.

The description of protesters in various media includes the "Left", the 'Right" and "Conspiracy Theorists" among other labels.

T-shirts worn by protesters included ones saying that Chancellor Angela Merkel is "banning life" and other simply advocating "freedom"

The Alternative for Germany Party is calling for a lifting of restrictions saying the threat of Covid-19 has been exaggerated.....

The message from the vendors at an outdoor market in Jerusalem today.    Their protest against continued closure of the market because of the coronavirus led to clashes with police and at least one arrest with later reports saying that six were detained by police .   They argue that politicians are favoring corporate interests over their small business operations......ISRAEL NATIONAL NEWS STORY

In France only 43 percent support is being reported for house arrest to deal with the coronavirus.    A YouGov poll commissioned by "HuffPost" shows declining support for home confinement in the country.   The polling done last Thursday and Friday.     The government planning to end house arrest with numerous controls and restrictions beginning May 11th.

Enforcement of house arrest continues across France.     On Saturday in Lyon some 600 vehicles stopped at 14 checkpoints.   80 fines were handed out by police.

In other news.....

Venezuela received refined gasoline from a Venezuelan shipping magnate on Friday.    Sources tell Reuters that the gasoline came from  a company owned by Wilmer Ruperti.     

The oil refining network in Venezuela has broken down and US sanctions have crippled the country's ability to import gasoline from refineries.

Venezuelan authorities are currently able to ship only 30-thousand barrels per day to gasoline stations in the country where normal demand is for 1.3 million barrels per day......REUTERS NEWS STORY

A Saudi TV series for Ramadan has an opening dialogue in Hebrew.    The show includes Jewish characters designed to illustrate that Jewish people lived in the Persian Gulf region in the past.

There's controversy over the show with some seeing it as government sponsored propaganda to promote an agenda of closer ties between Israel and Saudi Arabia.     The two nations already work quietly behind the scenes in an alliance that helps Saudi Sunni Islam to dominate the Middle East region at the expense of Shia Islam based in Iran.
