NEWS SUMMARY-INTELLIGENCE REPORT SUNDAY 8/25/2019-NUMEROUS ISRAELI ATTACKS REPORTED IN MIDDLE EAST

Events related to Iran and Israel appear to be dominant with numerous Israeli attacks reported in Iraq, Lebanon and Syria since Saturday night.   There's also been a rocket attack aimed at southern Israel from Gaza Sunday evening.


But first:





Iran's Foreign Minister arrived by airplane at Biarritz, France, site of the G7 summit, just after 8am Eastern US time Sunday morning.


Word is that President Trump was informed by French President Emmanuel Macron of the surprise arrival of Javad Zarif at the summit site.


Zarif is discussing the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA) with France's Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.


Zarif left Biarritz later in the day with no immediate details on what happened.

The Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri said the Israeli drone strike reported in the suburbs of Beirut early Sunday was a:



"blatant attack on Lebanon's sovereignty"


Two explosions in a neighborhood that is the stronghold of the Iranian backed Hezbollah group with Hezbollah claiming two Israeli drone were involved.


Late Sunday the Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah spoke to his followers calling the incident a:



"very, very very dangerous development"

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke with the Lebanese Prime Minister Hariri Sunday saying escalation needs to be prevented in the region.


Pompeo defended Israel's right to act in self-defense against Iranian threats.


From Syria five are reported dead after Israeli strikes near Damascus late Saturday night.    Israel said it was thwarting Iranian plans for attacks on Israel from Syria.


A Shiite Muslim militia in Iraq reports nine of its members killed in what is said to be an Israeli drone attack near the Iraq-Syria border Sunday evening.


LATER SUNDAY EVENING THREE ROCKETS FIRED AT SOUTHERN ISRAEL CREATING PANIC AMONG FESTIVAL GOERS IN THE SOUTHERN CITY OF SDEROT.  ONE WOMAN INJURED WHEN SHE RAN FOR COVER THERE.


TWO INTERCEPTED BY THE IRON DOME DEFENSE SYSTEM WITH ONE LANDING ON ISRAELI TERRITORY


THE ROCKETS FIRED FROM GAZA WITH ISRAELI ATTACKS ON TARGETS THERE REPORTED EARLY MONDAY MORNING.


Lebanese media reporting during the overnight hours early Monday morning an Israeli attack on a Palestinian camp in the Bekaa Valley near the Syrian border.


ISRAEL'S SECURITY CABINET WILL MEET LATER MONDAY MORNING.




LATE SUNDAY MORE CLASHES BETWEEN POLICE AND PROTESTERS IN HONG KONG WITH POLICE USING TEAR GAS, WATER CANNON, RUBBER BULLETS AND EVEN LIVE AMMUNITION IN AT LEAST ONE CASE.....VIDEO FROM HONG KONG   36 ARRESTS REPORTED BY THE HONG KONG POLICE.



In Hong Kong earlier Sunday protest against the government's extradition to China law continuing after unusual events Saturday involving small groups of masked and helmeted protesters getting into clashes with police.


Those incidents Saturday led to 29 arrests according to Hong Kong police.




President Trump says he has power under US law to force US companies to stop doing business with China under the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act. 

President Trump citing the law in Twitter posts in recent days.


Its been used to target terrorists, drug traffickers and nations like Iran, Syria and North Korea.


China's Ministry of Commerce warning the United States of consequences if it does not end its "wrong actions" regarding trade.

At the G7 in France President Trump hailing a new trade deal with Japan he says is:



"tremendous"




and is an agreement that will help farmers and ranchers in the US.



Political buzz in Washington about a former Republican congressman opposing President Trump in the GOP primaries and caucuses next year.


Walsh was given a spot on ABC's  "This Week" program Sunday to pitch his candidacy.


Walsh telling host George Stephanopoulos that Mr. Trump is "unfit" for office and "lies" every time he opens his mouth.


He's also saying that he expects to be attacked by Trump and "his bullies".
