FRANCE YELLOW VESTS WEEK 168: SQUEEZING MARINE LE PEN OUT OF THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE PROTESTS CONTINUE

In French politics the squeeze to keep Marine Le Pen from reaching the second round of the presidential election continues.

It started with the entry of outspoken Tucker Carlson type TV pundit Eric Zemmour into the race.    His outspoken views on Islam and crime drawing supporters away from Marine Le Pen.    Zemmour even drew a few National Rally activists  who formerly supported Le Pen into his ranks.

Then the mainstream "Right" put a female candidate Valerie Pecresse into the race.   Pecresse leads the large Ile-de-France region in and around Paris.

She and Marine Le Pen now even in first round polling for April 10th at 17 percent while Emmanuel Macron the incumbent scores in the 25 percent range.

Only the top two candidates make it to the second round on April 24th.

Now yesterday a new blow to Marine Le Pen came from her niece Marion Marechal who indicated she will not support her in this year's election.

Marechal pulled back from political office after the 2017 presidential election and began to flirt with the mainstream "Conservative Movement" with CPAC appearances in the US for example.

Interviewed by "CNews" Le Pen said it was difficult to bear Marechal's decision:

"I raised her with my sister for the first years of her life, it's brutal it's violent, it's difficult for me"
