Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison says his cabinet has agreed on a "pathway" to deal with COVID-19.
It involves four phases first reaching a "vaccination threshold" with all Australians offered coronavirus vaccine, then a post-vaccination phase involving minimizing serious illness and death, next a consolidation period where COVID-19 is managed like the flu and other infectious diseases and finally a "complete return to normal" which includes quarantines for unvaccinated people who travel.
Vaccination levels will play a key role in moving from phase to phase and vaccine passports will be introduced for international travelers.
Morrison did not give a timetable as to when each phase will be reached.
