The coming week of Bastille Day (July 14th) is traditionally the opening of the vacation season in France many already vacationing in France and other nearby countries but fear of the coronavirus is rising.

President Macron set to make a speech Monday night at 8 pm.

He will discuss his policies like "pension reform" a policy raising the retirement age and consolidating existing pension systems in the country.

But the media raising the question of his COVID-19 policy with official sources indicating it will be a major component of the speech.

A variety of measures possible from "health passes" related to vaccination being required for certain venues to localized restrictions or travel restrictions involving other countries.

BFM-TV headlining a call by professional associations representing doctors and pharmacists for mandatory vaccination of all persons 12 years and older.

The French government has already recommended against travel to Spain and Portugal.

The "Yellow Vests" are a topic at the Cannes Film Festival in southern France this year because a film related to the protests is competing for the top prize.     French government media (France 24) reporting on the film called "The Divide" quotes its director Catherine Corsini as saying the country has:

                          "become more and more violent"

tying into the themes of President Emmanuel Macron's government and its Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin as well as those of the new politician touted by major media the northern French regional leader Xavier Bertrand.
