NEWS SUMMARY INTELLIGENCE REPORT SUNDAY 11/8/2020

 

First tonight a quick analysis of the political situation.    There are still legal challenges and still vote counts underway in a number of states with recounts set to begin in others in the coming days.   States have not certified the Presidential candidate who won yet.





This weekend in the Newsdump period specifically late Saturday morning votes were produced in Pennsylvania to lead both the mainstream media and former Vice-President Joe Biden to proclaim victory with foreign leaders and former presidents reinforcing the notion, along with corporate CEO's (I have read the memo of a prominent CEO in recent hours).

Election Day in the southeastern Asian nation of Myanmar (formerly Burma).    The country's de-facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi said the elections were more important than COVID-19.    The country was under military rule until the election of five years ago and the military party and other opposition forces wanted the elections cancelled due to coronavirus.  


Suu Kyi, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, has fallen out of favor in global circles over the conflict between the country's Buddhist majority and the Rohingya Muslim minority with allegations of ethnic cleansing and charges at the International Criminal Court.   Suu Kyi says the country is fighting Islamic terrorism and extremism.

Congratulations have poured in from various foreign leaders following the the proclamation of victory Saturday by Democrat Presidential Candidate former Vice-President Joe Biden and the mainstream media.



The French President Emmanuel Macron, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau among those offering messages of congratulations to Biden.

Ethiopia's Parliament voting to dissolve the government of the northern Tigray region which is in rebellion against the central government.    Tigray's leaders say the central government is targeting them with purges and allegations of corruption and that the current prime minister's mandate is over (he postponed elections over the coronavirus).     


The central government contends that Tigray is "violating the constitution and endangered the constitutional system".    The UN calling for a de-escalation of the fighting that has broken out between Tigray and the central government of Ethiopia...BBC NEWS...Today word that the head of the army, chief of intelligence and foreign minister of Ethiopia have lost their jobs.



Political conflict in the African nation of Ivory Coast with the opposition leader Pascal Affi Nguessan arrested accused of sedition.    Nguessan forming an alternate government after the opposition boycotted the recent election that saw incumbent President Alassane Quattara elected to a third term with 94 percent of the vote.   


The opposition saying a third term is unconstitutional but Quattara contending that a new constitution adopted in 2016 negated the notion that he is being elected to a third term...BBC




JEOPARDY GAME SHOW HOST ALEX TREBEK HAS DIED AT THE AGE OF 80.   TREBEK HAD BEEN FIGHTING PANCREATIC CANCER...THE GUARDIAN

And the coronavirus stats for today via Worldometers showing lower numbers in the USA as is usually the case for a Sunday but the new low is in six figures.



The number of new COVID-19 infections in the US reported at 102,726.    512 new deaths attributed to COVID-19 with 6,483,420 recoveries reported.    The top three states Illinois with 10,009, Florida with 6,820 and Texas with 6,584.



Around the world 472,686 new infections reported with the US the leading nation.    Other nations include France with 38,619, Russia with 20,498, Germany with 14,026 and Canada with 4,058.
