NEWS SUMMARY-INTELLIGENCE REPORT TUESDAY 11/6/2018

(UPDATES, EXPANSION, EDITING ETC. UNTIL 7 AM)

Good Morning, its Election Day Tuesday November 6th, 2018.

Will today's election results see the return of Speaker Pelosi to the House of Representatives?

The US Senate appears out of reach to Democrats but the redraw of Pennsylvania's congressional districts in their favor by an elected Supreme Court controlled by Democrats may be a key to reaching the magic number of 23 gains to reach a 218-217 majority in the House.

Speaking at the final Republican campaign rally in Cape Girardeau, Missouri last night, media personality Rush Limbaugh said Democrats cannot accept the results of the 2016 election that made Donald Trump President of the United States.  He said they are now trying to undo that.

President Trump told the media yesterday as he left for his final round of campaign rallies that he probably won't meet Russian President Vladimir Putin this weekend in Paris when the end of the First World War will be remembered one hundred years later.

But a meeting is more likely in conjunction with the G20 meeting in Argentina at the end of the month,

The Russian news agency Tass reported in recent weeks that Trump and Putin could meet each other at both of the upcoming events where they would both be in attendance.

The third attempt to form a new government in Sweden following September's election will be launched next week.

Sweden's parliament speaker will nominate Ulf Kristersson of the "Moderate Party" as Prime Minister on Monday November 12th with a vote set for Wednesday November 14th.

Kristersson is the leader of the "Right" in Sweden's parliament and this will be the second time his name is being presented.  Both Kristersson and the leader of the Social Democrats and the "Left" in parliament, Stefan Lofven, have tried and failed to form a government.

Holding the balance of power between "Left" and "Right" are the anti-mass immigration Sweden Democrats with 62 seats in the 349 seat parliament.

The November 14th vote will determine if a majority of the parliament supports Kristersson.  While he can count on Christian Democrats who will also accept the votes of the Sweden Democrats, the other two "Right" parties, the Liberals and Centre have balked at the notion of a government supported by Sweden Democrat votes.

The Liberals seem dead set against but if the Centre Party changes its mind to vote with Sweden Democrats for Kristersson next week, 185 of the 349 seats (a majority) will enable a new government to be formed.

In Yemen's civil war, the Saudi led coalition supporting the government launched a major offensive aimed at a port city over the weekend and they advanced to within several miles of the port facilities.

But Houthi rebels say they beat back the Saudi led attack.

The Saudi offensive comes after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called for a cease fire in the conflict to begin by the end of November.

Most of the relief aid for Yemen comes through Hodeida port and relief officials are concerned about a cutoff of food and humanitarian aid to the country.

The Portland, Oregon city council will consider restrictions on public protests this Thursday at  public hearing.

Mayor Ted Wheeler wants to have special powers to limit the location and duration of protests and the movements of protestors.

The city has seen Antifa protestors and other leftists on the streets but Mayor Wheeler's proposal came in conjunction with his comments about Patriot Prayer Group protestors allegedly carrying firearms on a garage rooftop during a protest earlier this year.   His contention was disputed by Portland Police.

The American Civil Liberties Union has expressed its concern about the proposed ordinance.
