Well folks Elvis has a second cousin named Brandon Presley who's hoping the voters in Mississippi make him their 'hunk of burning love' on election day.
Brandon born in 1977 less than a month before Elvis died. He's a member of the Mississippi Public Service Commission a lifelong Democrat Presley was mayor in Nettleton, Mississippi in 2004 when he endorsed Republican George W. Bush for re-election.
Brandon Presley (appropriate name for a Democrat) challenging incumbent GOP Governor Tate Reeves.
Reeves signed a 15-week abortion law that ended up going to the US Supreme Court and figured in the "Dobbs" Decision last year.
And Chief Justice John Roberts had hoped that the 15-week law would have been the winner in that decision but five other justices wanted to allow states to enact stricter laws.
Reeves is in the Mississippi Moderate Republican tradition of Thad Cochran, Roger Wicker and so on back to good ole Haley Barbour.
In Kentucky Mitch McConnell loyalist Daniel Cameron in a tough race against Democrat Andy Beshear for Governor. Beshear the son of current Governor Steve Beshear.
An African-American Republican Cameron has the style of South Carolina Senator Tim Scott a bit lame.
Cameron doesn't have the style of North Carolina Lt. Governor Mark Robinson who is doing well in polling for Governor next year conservative on social issues a fighter on all issues.
Kentucky is a very white state much more white than North Carolina where Robinson can grow the Republican brand with people of color.
In my state of Pennsylvania also more white than North Carolina the GOP ran sports commentator one time Penn State football star Lynn Swann against incumbent Ed Rendell in 2006 for Governor.
Swann was not able to connect and Rendell defeated him by a wide margin.
There's great potential for Daniel Cameron being another deer in the headlight not being able to connect.
Cameron is also working with only a small base of non-white voters to spread the Republican brand.
At best Cameron may squeak out a victory based on tough economic times and the endorsement of President Donald Trump.
