The new government in New Zealand is repealing restrictive smoking law amendments passed by the previous Labor Party led government.
Those amendments would have reduced the number of locations allowed to sell tobacco products and also created a gradual rise in the age at which people would be allowed to smoke leading to an eventual smoking ban in the country.
New Prime Minister Christopher Luxon saying his government wants to reduce smoking but the restrictive smoking rules would have led to more crime and a black market in cigarettes.
