The situation in Niger US Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland visiting Niger.
Nuland was active as a US State Department official during the 2014 coup in Ukraine that removed an elected pro-Russian government from power.
That led to Russian annexation of Crimea and the fighting in eastern Ukraine that ended with Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
