SPECIAL REPORT: DC COPS ARREST PROTEST LEADER, IMPOUND TRUCKS FROM THE 1776 RESTORATION MOVEMENT

"We're not bitter, angry or burning things down"

1776 RESOTRATION MOVEMENT LEADER "SANTA" DAVE RIDDELL SPEAKS BEFORE HIS ARREST ON THE MALL IN WASHINGTON DC THIS MORNING JULY 6, 2022...

Early this morning around 330 am around 50 vehicles left an encampment in Bunker Hill, West Virginia and headed for Washington DC arriving before 6 am on the Mall not too far from the White House and US Capitol  (Madison Drive).

Police left the group alone at first just asking some questions but after 9 am they moved into to impound the trucks involved in the convoy of vehicles and make an arrest.

That arrest of the convoy leader David Riddell.

Riddell has been nicknamed "Santa".

He wanted to bring non-violent civil disobedience to the Nation's Capital.

His hope to inspire Americans to do more than just sit on the sidelines after two plus years involving COVID tyranny and continuing infringements on liberty including those involving the January 6th prisoners held in the Nation's Capital.

The 1776 Restoration Movement came out of the People's Convoy that decided to fold up a few months ago after protests on highways around Washington DC.

Those behind 1776 RM felt that the protest needed to continue and not be brought to an abrupt halt as the People's Convoy leadership suddenly decided...

BEHIND THE ARREST OF THE 1776 RM LEADER DAVID RIDDELL

On Monday four different groups of vehicles ("convoys") stopped for 30 minutes along major highways in the Washington DC area to mark the beginning of civil disobedience from 1776 Restoration Movement against government policy on COVID and other matters related to Constitutional freedom.

Unlike the Climate Change activists on the DC Beltway later that day this group actually left a highway lane open for emergency vehicles if needed and did not stage a continuous blockade protest.

One group of 20 or more vehicles approached by a Maryland state trooper along Interstate 270 in Montgomery County.     The trooper asked for and received a drivers license from David Riddell, nicknamed Santa, the leader of this protest movement.

After the trooper had possession of the license and returned it, the convoy of vehicles moved on.

Riddell being held in jail without bail related to what is said to be a traffic charge from Montgomery County, Maryland.

He is to be moved to Montgomery County to face those charges according to the authorities.

 LATER DEVELOPMENTS IN THE STORY

Mainstream media like Washington's WTOP began to pick up on this story later in the day.

Their account describes Riddell being asked to walk with the police so they could have a conversation.    After he joined the police he was placed under arrest.

And yes Monday's highway protest is what his arrest today is about the specific set of charges from Maryland are listed as:

      disturbing peace/hindering passage

                    disorderly conduct

failure to obey a lawful order

Of course there can be no doubt that this arrest is a pre-emptive move to stop any kind of protest in and around the nation's capital.

At 615 pm a group of protesters still seen on the Mall many sitting on lawn chairs following a long day at the site.
