The coronavirus curfew ending in France this weekend. Last Wednesday the order to wear masks outdoors in France ended. The announcement last Wednesday by Premier Jean Castex coming just days before tomorrow's first round voting in France's regional elections.
French President Emmanuel Macron's LaREM Party finding the going tough with the strength of the opposition National Rally apparent. The RN expected to finish in first place in tomorrow's voting in six of France's 13 regions.
Expectations are that in second round voting a week from Tuesday the RN will win over 50 percent of the vote and for the first time win regional power in France in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region.
This would provide a boost for Marine Le Pen as she remains the leading opponent of incumbent President Emmanuel Macron in next April's Presidential elections...BBC NEWS
Leading the RN in the Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur is Thierry Mariani a former cabinet minister in a 'mainstream' national government of "Les Republicans" the established party of the "Right" in France....FOREIGN POLICY
Yesterday some five thousand elected officials, supporters and sympathizers of "Les Republicans" issued a letter calling on the party not to form alliances with President Emmanuel Macron's party. (BFM-TV)
