FRANCE YELLOW VESTS WEEK 135: MACRON SLAPPED AMID POLITICAL CHALLENGE MARCHES FOR 'LIBERTY' ACROSS FRANCE

YELLOW VESTS MARCH FOR LIBERTY WEEK 135 PARIS 6/12/2021 LIVE VIDEO

It was 2009 then Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was always under legal clouds but he was beginning to face political challenges within his own party as well that would lead to his 2011 resignation.

In Milan Berlusconi found himself attacked with a statue....

This week in France President Emmanuel Macron visiting southeastern France where regional elections (First Round June 20,  Second Round June 27) could bring the opposition National Rally to power and propel the presidential candidacy of RN leader Marine Le Pen.      And Macron finds himself getting slapped....

The attacker was sentenced 48 hours after the incident with four months of prison and a probationary sentence after that.    He was required to undergo psychological counseling.

                                   TODAY'S PROTESTS

In Lille the "Liberty" protest today with a left-wing flavor the flags of the Left more in evidence than Yellow Vests.

The bottom of the banner reading:

"Against the ideas of the Extreme Right"

LILLE LIBERTY PROTEST JUNE 12, 2021

Lille a region of France where the National Rally runs strong and Macron is considered to the "Right" with his restrictive security laws and so on but his agenda of stopping Marine Le Pen seems fueled by this demonstration to some extent.

She leads the National Rally in the Northern France region where this month's elections take place.

A short clip of the crowd marching in Paris today....

LIBERTY MARCH PARIS JUNE 12, 2021

And the Left was out on the streets today and I guess the Macron slap had to lead to something for Left political leader Jean-Luc Melenchon.    As he prepared to march today in Paris he was covered with flour and an arrest was made.   (BFM-TV)

And according to organizers today's protest events drew some 150-thousand participants across France including 75-thousand in Paris.    (Yellow Vests Hendaye Facebook)

And that's the story of the Yellow Vests for this week in France.
