Its been an eventful week in France with the government able and or willing to distract from coronavirus curfews and crackdowns and the economic malaise with an unprecedented response to terrorism in the country.
The beheading of teacher Samuel Paty Friday a week ago has led to police raids on Islamic organizations, the shutdown of an Islamic organization linked to Hamas the rulers of Gaza and in recent hours the expulsion of the family of a Muslim girl whose head was shaved.
That girl was balded because she dated a non-Muslim.
Now the tensions between France and Turkey ruled by the Muslim Brotherhood associated Recep Tayyip Erdogan are ratcheting up.
President Erdogan today denouncing the French President Emmanuel Macron saying Macron needs a "mental health examination".
People in France and other nations will pay the cost of coronavirus in devalued currency, higher taxes and the list goes on in the months ahead. Governments will need to act on other issues to pacify the economic pain and suffering that will worsen in the months ahead.
Macron's main political opponent in 2022 Marine Le Pen has always focused on Islam in France and Macron needs to neutralize her on that issue but Le Pen would be wise to focus on the economic issues and remind voters Macron is distracting from the troubles of the coronavirus situation.
