In France today Premier Edouard Philippe laying out the outline of President Emmanuel Macron's pension reform plan.


Philippe saying the plan that will combine 42 different French pension plans into one will create a fairer system "equal" for all the people of France.


But opponents say it will cut benefits and force people to work longer to get the reduced benefit.


A national strike led by railway workers that started last Thursday continues with strike organizers urging a major rally in opposition to pension reform in Paris next Tuesday.


The strike causing some 75-80 percent of passenger trains in France to be cancelled.



Police in Denmark arresting some 20 suspects Wednesday.    The 20 suspected of involvement in Islamic terrorism.

Raids were conducted at 20 different addresses in the country.

Those the words of the de-facto leader of Myanmar (formerly Burma) and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi before the International Court of Justice in The Hague.



She and her country are accused of genocide against the country's Rohingya Muslim minority by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.



Suu Kyi says that the Rohingya have been in conflict with the country's Buddhist majority for centuries and that the most recent violence that led to hundreds of thousands fleeing the country to neighboring Bangladesh was initiated by Rohingya attacks on police stations.


She said that if the police or military committed any excesses they will be prosecuted by Myanmar.


Suu Kyi repeatedly tried to get across a message that has been under reported in international media that her country is dealing with an Islamic extremist uprising.


There has been widespread condemnation of Myanmar including from the United States government over its treatment of Rohingya Muslims.


India passing a new immigration law through the upper house of its parliament.


The law allows for citizenship for illegal immigrants from neighboring countries who are not Muslims.




From Washington the political drama tonight as the House Judiciary Committee worked on the two articles of impeachment against President Trump in a public hearing.


The full committee vote tomorrow night to approve the articles with the full House debate and vote coming up next week.



The former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele defending his "Steele Dossier" that made salacious allegations against President Trump.


Steele responding to release of the Justice Department's Inspector General report on the origins of the Russian collusion probe in 2016.


The report noted an over reliance on Steele's dossier by the FBI.

President Trump met in the Oval Office with Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov Tuesday.    Trump warning Russia against interference in next year's election and urging Russian support of US policy on Iran and North Korea among other things.

Israel is headed for a new election with the deadline expiring to form a new government tonight.   Early in the hours of Thursday morning the legislation dissolving parliament was passed.


This means Israel's third election in less than a year set for Monday March 2nd.


There was last minute talk of a compromise to form a "unity" government of the Likud and the Blue and White Party that would involve Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu giving up any immunity from prosecution in the face of his indictment in three corruption cases but that did not materialize.



Jersey City, New Jersey Mayor Steven Fulop says that the two attackers who fatally shot a police detective and then killed three others in a Kosher grocery store yesterday were definitely targeting the business because it was Jewish.     The mayor posting today on Twitter.


The investigation into the crime is said to have uncovered anti-Semitic social media posts from one of the killers.


One of the two attackers is identified is David Anderson, a former member of the Black Hebrew Israelite movement that believes its members are direct descendents of the tribe of Judah.




Debris has been sighted near where a Chilean C-130 aircraft with 38 people on board disappeared on a flight to Antarctica Monday.    The wreckage sighted in the Drake Passage.



There's a report from the "New York Times" that movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has reached a settlement with more than 30 women who accused him of sexual misconduct.


The settlement said to be worth some 25 million dollars.
