                 PRO-PALESTINIAN PROTEST IN PARIS TODAY 10/5/2024




A general policy speech this week from new Prime Minister Michel Barnier covered a wide range of matter but the financial condition of France's government was front and center.


Barnier saying his goals were a budget deficit declining to five percent of GDP in 2025 and three percent by 2029.



Talk of better government spending through catching those who may be double dipping on government benefits and taxation measures aimed at wealthy companies and individuals.


Regarding immigration Barnier saying some changes are needed including forcing other countries to accept those deported by restricting visas from those nations.


On social issues Barnier saying he supports the right to abortion and marriage for all.


He also made it a point to mention "Anti-Semitism" alongside "Racism" saying his government has no tolerance for either.




Mr. Barnier not asking for a vote of confidence in his government from the assembly where the government lacks a clear majority at best supported for certain by just over 200 members of the 577-member body.



The leader of the National Rally in the assembly spoke in response to Barnier.

On Friday 192 New Popular Front deputies introducing their censure motion against the Barnier government in the National Assembly.


The motion of the Left expected to fail as the plurality of deputies supporting the government and the 142 aligned with the National Rally oppose it.
