God Bless the fellow that spoke those words to me many years ago. I was in a demanding job but I was also childlike and immature decades away from sobriety.
A man was cheating on his wife.
He was as drunk and crazy as I was just acting out in his own particular way.
But he stalked other women used his job to meet and date women other than his wife.
He told me to tell his wife he was working that evening.
When the call came in and I began to engage in the lying from across the office this guy my supervisor says out loud:
"You don't have to lie for him"
And I got the blessing of speaking the truth to that man's wife as I knew it. First her husband wasn't working that night and second, I didn't know where he was.
