On Wednesday police in New Caledonia staged early morning raids arresting eight people including Kanak independence leader Christian Tein.
His arrest came after the rebellion last month in which nine people died including two police officers.

Getting back to politics the National Assembly elections a week from tomorrow and the latest Elabe poll puts the National Rally at 36 percent, the New Popular Front of the Left at 27 percent with the Together ("ENSEMBLE") of President Macron lagging in third place at 20 percent.
For now that's the story of France and the Yellow Vests.
