Whatever the reasons perhaps economic or military challenges in the months ahead French President Emmanuel Macron made a very deliberate decision to call a sudden election with his moderate coalition at a disadvantage in relation to the Left and the above all the Right in France.

It was as if the Liberal Capitalist banker turned politician Macron felt it necessary to allow the "Far-Right" National Rally a place in the halls of power.

The events of October 7th in Israel and the conflict since have brought the Anti-Israel Pro-Palestinian Left out in both the National Assembly and on the streets.

Some protests were banned early on in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.    

There are suggestions that Israel will attack Lebanon, a nation formerly under French rule, in the coming weeks.

The need to contain those Anti-Israel forces in France may be playing a major role but indeed the need to move forward with economic development to make France more business friendly to suppress Leftist policies unfriendly to business also carry weight.

The National Rally fiercely opposed Mr. Macron when he forced through pension reform advancing France's retirement age to 64 to cut the costs of pensions.

In the political campaign of the last three weeks Jordan Bardella, the youthful National Rally leader and prospective Prime Minister, pushing a more flexible pension system not a flat out roll back to the old retirement age of 62.

Notions like being able to retire at age 60 after 40 years of work or at age 66 when one starts to work at age 24 touted.

This appears to show that the National Rally is indeed a more business friendly party than the Leftist forces in France.

The decision of Les Republicains president Eric Ciotti to come out with some of his party's members and candidates as allies of the RN also points to "Establishment" forces wanting a new majority in the National Assembly.

And the polling data suggests that such a new majority may emerge after the two rounds of voting tomorrow and next Sunday.

A first round of voting tomorrow for the National Assembly's 577 seats with candidates elected if they can exceed 50 percent of the popular vote and 25 percent of the electorate.

If that doesn't happen the top two candidates and all candidates receiving support from 12.5 percent of registered voters in the first round get to go the second-round vote July 7th to determine the winner.
