FRENCH FARMERS PROTEST TODAY 1/27/2024 IN MONTPELLIER
Protest in France has tapered off since the Yellow Vests mass demonstrations in late 2018 and early 2019 but this week a spirited nationwide protest by farmers emerged.
Large conglomerates and global businesses the target of farmers anger since their policies threaten the ability of French farmers to make a living.
Supermarkets and even a logistics center of the Leclerc Family targeted. Leclerc demanding lower prices from agricultural suppliers causing economic hardship in French agriculture.
The European Union also angering France's farmers for its regulatory rules and efforts to speed up a free trade deal with Mercosur which is a South American bloc of nations that includes Argentina and Brazil.
French political leader Florian Philippot ("Les Patriots") saying that deal with the South American countries:
"will kill our agriculture"...

As the protests spread to highways in the Paris area Friday Prime Minister Gabriel Attal appearing at a cattle farm.
He announced measures including the cancellation of a planned tax increase for diesel fuel that powers farm vehicles saying his government will appeal to the European Union to ease regulations forcing farmers to keep land out of use.
Attal also pledged to maintain French opposition to free-trade deals proposed by the EU that would flood France with cheap produce...

The man pushed his mock gas pump in the streets during today's procession.
The protest in the Paris streets today a larger crowd than last week.
The weather nicer this week but perhaps the protests in the countryside by the farmers have pumped some new life into this Yellow Vests demonstration.
The Yellow banner fronting today's protest calling for:
1. Fiscal and social justice
2. Direct participatory democracy
3. An end to privileges for the elite

BACK TO THE FARMERS PROTEST TODAY.
IN ARIEGE NEAR THE SPANISH BORDER FOUR THOUSAND PEOPLE STAGING A TRIBUTE MARCH FOR ALEXANDRA SONAC AND HER 12-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER.
THEY WERE STRUCK AND KILLED BY A CAR AT A PROTEST BLOCKADE ON TUESDAY...
Tonight many involved in the farmers protest who did not dialogue with the government before its Friday announcements say they will carry the protest to Paris on Monday.
Their message the need for more immediate relief for cash flow into their farming business operations now.
Word being put out that the purpose of their demonstrations are not to harm the people of Paris or to starve them.
The government has been laid back in policing up to this point with Mainstream Media suggesting extreme elements may be in the wings to stage acts of violence.
Whether the government and Mainstream Media intend to spread negative narratives about the farmers protest movement to shut it down remains to be seen?
There is already media discussion about the possibility of 'shortages' in Paris in the coming days.
Tonight word that Prime Minister Gabirel Attal intends to visit a farm tomorrow for another attempt to sell his plan for farmers announced on Friday.
And protest leader Jerome Bayle who called off the protest after Mr. Attal's announcement denying stories that he was revealed his bank details to the government suggesting the government is to benefit him financially.
For now that's the story of France and the Yellow Vests.
