FRANCE YELLOW VESTS WEEK 163: PROTEST CONTINUES ON CHRISTMAS DAY GOVERNMENT COULD IMPOSE NEW RESTRICTIONS NEXT WEEK

 

Christmas Day 2021 marks the 163rd Saturday since the first Yellow Vests protests occurred in France.

The fear of COVID-19 and the Omicon variant running high all week long Thursday 1.55 million COVID tests in France with around six percent of them coming back positive.

The Omicron fear factor could last right up to April's election for president that's when new vaccine batches are expected to emerge that will be more effective against Omicron than existing shots.

Politics continuing to be discussed new polling showing Emmanuel Macron the leader of the pack for the first round of presidential election voting on April 10th with 26 percent.

But down below a closer race for second place with Valerie Pecresse of the "Right" at 17 percent  closely followed by Marine Le Pen at 16 percent.    The candidate taking votes away from Marine Le Pen Eric Zemmour at 13 percent.

The top two candidates will advance to the second round of voting on April 24th.

In Paris today on Christmas Day protest opposing the vaccine passport in France with the government intending to legislate formally the "vaccine passport" next month.

GOVERNMENT SPOKESMAN GABIREL ATTAL SAID IN RECENT DAYS THAT NEXT MONDAY THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT WILL CONSIDER ITS NEXT COVID STEPS.

Today on Christmas Day the French government reporting that the number of positive tests has crossed the 100,000 mark a record level (104,611).

This coming Friday in the French Caribbean on the island of Guadeloupe (December 31st) the new deadline for health care workers to be in compliance with the vaccine passport.

More protests are planned on Tuesday and Thursday but there was a protest of note last Thursday the occupation of the legislative council chamber...
