The message of French President Emmanuel Macron as the events unfolded at the US Capitol Wednesday reminding us that leaders like Mr. Macron believe in an interconnected world that operates under the same rules globally.

In France COVID-19 vaccination slowly emerging and COVID restrictions tightened as eight new regions join the 15 already under a  6 pm curfew Sunday.

THE US CAPITOL INCIDENT AND THE "BLACK BLOCS" OF FRANCE'S YELLOW VESTS PROTESTS

Moving back to the Yellow Vests protests in their early heyday the mass crowds in the street posed a direct threat to Emmanuel Macron's ability to remain in power.

Protests focused on reforming the system to allow citizen initiated referendums.

People objecting to gasoline taxes designed to be "green" and to "save the planet".

Toll booths occupied on highways turned over by the government to be run by private companies who imposed the financial burden of operating the highways on the people through the back door of their tolls instead of the government through the front door of government imposed taxation and or tolls.

Then dramatic events emerged in the midst of the protests as black uniformed and hooded protesters deliberately sought confrontations with police, attacked businesses on Paris's Champs Elysees and even vandalized the Arc de Triomphe.

While not deliberately blaming the Macron government his leading political opponent expected to face him a second time in 2022's presidential election did comment.

Marine Le Pen noting that the "black blocs" of anarchists were taking actions that played into the government's hands and helped the government advance its agenda.

The violence enabled the government to get tougher on protesters in the streets and ban the Yellow Vests from the center of Paris and others cities in the country.

The Yellow Vests protests diminished in the aftermath of the street clashes involving the anarchists.

                                           TODAY'S PROTESTS

COVID-19 has provided even more pressure to keep people off the streets and diminish Yellow Vests protests in the last 10 months.

But Yellow Vests continued to make themselves known on the streets of Paris today...

Hundreds seen in that video and the Yellow Vests In Paris today captured in full in this four hour and 48 minute video...

Today's protest focused on the media the "collaborators" with the government against the people.   Media like TV France and BFM-TV called out as the "collaborators" with the Emmanuel Macron policies and agenda.

"Collaborator"

a powerful term in French history with its World War II overtones of those in France who consorted with the Nazis.

Yellow Vests in Bordeaux today and here is a look at that protest....

YELLOW VESTS BORDEAUX 1/9/2021

Freedom of speech isn't just an American concern tonight in France all opposition political forces sense they will be targets of social media companies in collaboration with the Macron government.

Jean Luc-Melenchon of the Left and  Marine Le Pen of the National Rally expressing their concerns for freedom of expression in France.

Melenchon saying that "Trump's behavior cannot be used as a pretext" for the government to legalize "private censorship".

Another left-wing politician Senator Francois Ruffin describes the closure of President Trump's Twitter account as "scandalous".    Ruffin adding:

"Tomorrow it will be for all of us"

Marine Le Pen considered the violence at the US Capitol and the censorship of social media companies aimed at President Trump in her statement that reads:

"On the one hand we cannot rightly condemn the attacks on democracy that took place in the context of the intrusion on the Capitol with degradations and violence and at the same time not be extremely severe and worried and very strongly condemn these social media giants who want to directly influence democracy by deciding who has the right to speak.

We are only at the beginning and we must very seriously ask ourselves the question of the responsibility of these digital giants in a form of announced collapse of freedom of expression"

And for now that's the story of the Yellow Vests and France and the connections to events in the United States this week.
