FRANCE LATEST:  36 ALLEGATIONS OF POLICE VIOLENCE AT PROTESTS, POLICE UNION PLANS ACTION, NEW PROTESTS CALLED

The protests of the Yellow Vests and high school students currently going on across France have led to complaints against police for the tactics they have used against the protesters.

Now the Inspector General of National Police in France is investigating 36 of the allegations.

Lawyers are filing complaints on behalf of Yellow Vests protesters who say they were mutilated or wounded by police grenade fire during protests.

Meanwhile, the police are looking for better working conditions and payment of the massive amount of overtime they have worked to confront the Yellow Vests protesters.

Interior Minister Christophe Castaner is meeting with police union representatives Tuesday evening.

The police union is planning job action Wednesday that would have them only respond to emergency calls and gather for protests at all police stations.

Wednesday is being called a "black day for police" in France.

Unless the government takes more action to help the police in coming days, the union envisions more actions in the future.

Linda Kebab of the SGP police union says:

"The police are exhausted, mentally and physically"

"We want the payment of the 27 million overtime hours worked"

Guillaume Lebeau of the Angry Police Mobilization Association says he has 200 hours of overtime accumulated and some of his colleagues have done 23 hour shifts to deal with Yellow Vests protests.

A police protest is planned on Thursday night in front of the 8th Arrondissement Police Station near the Champs-Elysees at 930pm.

In other news, there are calls on social media for holiday season Act 6 and beyond protests.

And a toll station in southern France was burned late Monday night in the Marseille area where yellow vests were gathered.
